    Weighing food?

Hi just wondering if someone could help please,I know uncooked chicken weighs heavier then cooked chicken and I've always weigh my chicken after its cooked so do I have to add or take and grams from the cooked weight when I'm preparing my meals?
    If that makes sense.

Food should always be weighed in it's raw state!

    Thanks

So weigh it in bulk before you cook it, it's no different.

    True

But the weights are so different so do I just but 100g of chicken in each meal or do I have to add an extra 10/20 grams or so to make the uncooked weight ?

It depends how much you need. If you need 33g of protein per meal then that's 150g chicken breast in its raw state. If you need 7 of them then you need 1050g. When it's cooked, weigh it, and divide by 7.

Ok, I totally get the weighing raw but... Are the numbers on myfitnesspal not accurate at all? That's what I have been using and I almost always grill my boneless, skinless chicken breast and I use these numbers - Calories in Homemade Outside Grill Grilled Chicken Breast - Calories and Nutrition Facts | MyFitnessPal.com

Should I switch to doing it raw then?

I have weighed my chicken breasts before and after just to see how much the difference was. I've done it a couple of time now and 30% difference seems to be just about right. A 150g chicken breast ends up right at 115g after cooking. Keep in mind it will depend on many things; the chicken itself, how it's prepped (mine get marinated 12-24 hours), how it's cooked (amost always on the grille) and so on. I use 30% in a pinch and I don't know for sure but I usually weigh them before cooking. Thighs, wings and legs are no doubt going to be different.
