well i know water is the gold standard, but how does lemon lime seltzer compare? right now i drink a lot of apple juice to help me reach my calorie goals, and each glass of apple juice is 26g of sugar, so id like to switch to lemon lime seltzer in addition to regular water.
^^ I agree. It will be fine based on that criteria.
Just avoid tonic water, it isn't the same and essentially it's soda. I made the mistake once that's why I say.
Not sure if I have the exact answer to this GB, but I bought tonic water once and it tasted odd. When I looked at the label it had as much sugar as a Coke! Most of the tonic water I see at the store also has quinine added to it, which has nothing to do with the sugar content but gives it that bitter taste. All the tonic water labels I've looked at in the store have high fructose corn syrup. Maybe tonic water is used mainly as a drink mixer? Maybe I'm getting confused with the way they market stuff, just didn't want to see OP get home and realize he has bubbly sugar water. Here's a link i found:

I guess the lesson to take home is "ALWAYS READ THE LABEL (even when you think you already know what you're buying).
I've always thought of tonic water as something along the lines of seltzer and/or club soda. I know the 3 aren't exactly the same, but this is the first I've heard of any having sugar.
Where are you from in the world Rip? Maybe tonic is different based on geography.
I'm in the U.S., but down south. Maybe you're right though, maybe some companies make different variations.![]()
Tonic Water is sweet. It's the same anywhere. Loaded with sugar so it makes Gin more tolerable.
It's basically a carbonated simple syrup with quinine added.
