nutritional difference in raw vs cooked oats

I know that some grains are hard for your body to digest raw.. Flaxseed for example, I have heard it has to be ground for your body to digest and use it.

How about steel cut oats? I was running late this morning so I just threw some raw into a protein shake. So the still digest well enough to be beneficial that way?

Your fine, that's what alot of folk on here do to make their own meal replacement. I always have a stash of oats that I powder in a blender.

You're right about flax, humans lack the digestive enzyme to break down the outer casing so we need to grind them first or just buy the oil. Or better still get an omega 3 fish oil instead.
