    Metabolic slowdown

I think my wife has experienced metabolic slowdown. How does one go about resetting this? Eat a surplus?

What has she been doing that makes you think this Tron?

Normally yes, you would eat a surplus to whatever the current maintenance levels are, but we are talking a about really small incremental increases over time.

She just can't loose anymore weight. And she confessed that she doesn't eat as much as she should. She's only been eating like 900 calories a day. Which is about 600-800 less then her tdee. She's 145 @ 20%. I've got her eating about 1300 right now and she says she's gained 6 pounds in just a couple weeks. Chalking it up to mainly water weight because added more carbs in. But she's gettin pisses lol

ouch, 6 pounds! yup that kind of diet will do it every time its tried. my advice is to up protein and fats, and cut on starchy carbs. 400 calories jump might be to bit too much IMO, id go 100 at a time, but make sure its from protein.

She's getting enough protein, but that's where most of her calories were coming from. A few carbs and some fat.
Bad thing is i set up a balanced diet for her at like 1400 cals and she says she can't eat it all or she forgets to eat sometimes and I had her write down everything she's been eating and it was averaging out to 900 calories. And the diet I had set up was a carb restricted diet. That's why I had introduced carbs back it and made it more balanced to try to spike the metabolism. I've just never had much experience with this and I know women react differently then we do.

I'm also curious if she doesn't have some sort of thyroid issue from pregnancies.

yea my wife was the same forgetting to eat and simply not hungry enough. its a really tough situation to get out of this, but with effort she maybe able to pull it off. might be worth checking her thyroid, you never know. I guess yams, sweet potatoes, and perhaps some oats to add to the mix. also add few more routines to he exercises...

I wouldn't have added more than 30g carbs a day for a week or 2 and then repeat when there is no/little change in weight.

Sounds like her body may be super compensating for the extended low calorie intake period. I'd take her back down to 1000cals and, as stated, slowly build from there.
