Is it necessary to lower carbs to drop body fat?

    Hi all,

I have lost around 20kg over the past year. Have built a nice muscle base and endurance base and am sitting at 16-17% body fat.

I train weights 5 days a week and I'm about to start HIIT 3-4 times a week to help drop a few kegs.

I'm cutting back my calories from 3000-3100 (maintenance) to 2500-2600.

    I'm 90kg & 186cm.

Was going to run a 40p/30c/30f macro split to try and get down a few % in body fat. I'm looking at dieting for 15-20 weeks.

    Any help/advice would be great.

    ps: Natty lol
pps: Read the carb stickies and still unsure.

For me it is. If I want to see fat loss at a reasonable rate, I have to drop carbs to nearly nothing. Other folks can eat carbs like there's no tomorrow and still lose fat. Just have to find out what works for you.

There are no macronutrient breakdowns that can be generalized. (in other words, what works for me may not work for you)

"Necessary"? No. Creating a caloric deficit is all that's 'necessary'. If you want to talk about efficiency however, cutting back/out carbs is a great way to go for a lot of people, me included.
