Does it fit your macros, diet goal? If Yes, eat it.

That's 20-30g of saturated fat a day just from eggs (assuming they are whole eggs). That's more sat fat than I would want to eat daily and that doesn't take into account your other fat sources.

Saturated fat is saturated fat. Not all fat is saturated.

You can buy cartons of 15 egg whites for around the same price as a pack of 15 free range eggs these days.

Just do what i do and take the Yolks out of most the eggs. I will have 6 eggs in the morning but only use 2 Yolks.

OP, this is actually a much more sensible plan than having 10 eggs a day, yolks in.
For example: one free range medium egg contains 6g of protein, trace amounts of carbs, 5g of fat for a total 71 cals. Multiply that lot by ten and you get your stats. As BiB stated, thats quite a lot of saturated fat (50g).
However you could also do this: 1 free range whole egg + 3 egg whites: 16.5g of protein, 2g of carbs, 5g of fat for a total of 121 cals. Two lots of that would give you 10g of fat compared to the 50g of 10 whole eggs. You get a slight drop in total protein, 33g of protein vs 50g, but you are cutting out all that extra fat, PLUS that is macros for 8 eggs (2 whole, 6 egg whites) so you can add more to make up 10 accordingly (two more egg whites would surely bring that up close to 50g).

I've been eating a dozen or so daily, for years. No issues whatsoever.

i would like a little clarification if any can be given. i have not done a lot of research on eggs (maybe i should) because until recently only at them once per day, but since ive been here have often seen 2 opposing trains of thought regarding the consumption of the yolk. most of the time i have seen people suggest eating them but specifying the omega3 eggs. i have the omega 3 eggs and am eating about 6 per day while running this keto diet.
what is the consensus here??

I always eat the whole egg, not a complete protein without. I can eat whites all day long and never fill up. I do not eat 10 a day ed, but i eat 4-6 a day sometimes more.

I sometimes have 6-7 scrambled in the morning, love it. I could eat eggs in every meal I think!

Dietary intake of cholesterol has very little effect on your blood levels. You make way more cholesterol than you can consume through food. Saturated fat has a stronger effect on plasma cholesterol levels.

I have always recommended the whole egg to my clients!!!
Also, you can eat 12 egg whites and 45 minutes max be hungry, the yolk helps fill you up.
I knew people that would remove the oil from natural peanut butter, that's just stupid.
My buddy use to workout at Vince Gironda's gym in Studio City, CA. who IMO was way ahead of his time. Vince pre workout cocktail , heavy whipping cream and raw eggs blended together. Of course this is before salmonella was a problem. I feel there is a reason for the yolk and don't throw it out.
GOOD READ, throwing this in the post but further reading from the link after.
What Are The Benefits? ///
Egg yolks actually contain all the healthy, fatty acids that are contained within the egg. It is a nucleus of wholesome goodness that supplied our ancestors with their sustenance since before they were upright. When you strip away the egg yolk and eat only the white, you're completely missing out on the benefits of those fatty acids like the Omega-3 fats.
Egg yolks also contain over 80% of the overall vitamins and minerals that can be found within the egg as a whole. The facts point to the conclusion that the egg should be consumed without division. In the process of eliminating the cholesterol intake by shedding the egg yolks, you're losing the majority of the vitamins and minerals such as:
Cut The Yoke And You Lose Out On:
There is a line dividing many people about whether egg yolks are safe to eat, mainly due to the issues with cholesterol. The fact remains that the bulk of the nutrition in an egg comes from the yolk (including 1/5 of the total protein). Logic would dictate that if you are a person who has an issue with cholesterol, you shouldn't eat eggs on a constant basis, but when you do you should eat the whole thing.
The issue of cholesterol is completely negligible and recent studies such as those performed by the University of Science have proven that other nutrients within the egg yolks can actually help the body manage the cholesterol intake. Vitamin B (particularly Riboflavin) has been known to aid in lowering cholesterol levels and the Lecithin within the egg prevents much of the cholesterol from even being absorbed within your digestive tract. There have also been some preliminary research done into the antioxidant Lutein which may reduce inflammation in the body, which is a much more deadly problem in the heart disease battle.

Vince claimed eating enough eggs was like being on a test cycle. lol ridiculous. they are awesome though
-
cholesterol = test production so maybe he wasn't so far off the mark.
egg yokes are great, for bulking or coming in shape for a show or even for the average skinny fat guy on these message forums. Egg yokes for a source of energy first thing in the morning is probaly a better choice then any carb meal out there.
good egg write up

In advance I apologize if this is just an idiotic question but when macros is mentioned with eating eggs what does that mean?
-
11-17-2013, 09:51 AM #37
I eat more than 10.
-
11-17-2013, 09:58 AM #38
HAHAHA! If you take the yolks out you wont rip as much, at least for me. I have 12 eggs a day but only 2 yolks and the farts are pretty controlled for the most part...
-
Macros, or Macronutrients. 1 Large egg might have ~80 calories and a certain amount of Protein, Fat, and Carbohydrates. The latter part is the Macros.
Thanks
