    Texturized veggie protein??

Have any of you tried texturizing veggie protein? I found some at a local whole foods grocery store. I'm guessing it's the stuff that they make veggie burgers out of. Anyways...1/2 cup = 22g protein 15g carbs 0g fat hardly any sodium or cholesterol. I'm sure it's not a complete protein, but what do y'all think about munching a cup of it here and there??

I took some, tossed it in water and gulped it down. It wasn't too bad.....or too good. Lol

TVP is made from soya. Or a high % at least. Soya is a complete protein.

for what its worth, i read in a few places that soy protein (tvp), when consumed regularly and in volume, can increase estrogen levels. I've kinda stayed away from it since then.

I didn't know what exactly TVP was made of. I just noticed it this a.m. at the grocery store and haven't had a chance to research its constituents. I've heard soy can elevate E2 levels as well. However, I'm sure eating some here and there wont make a guy grow tits. Well....what do y'all think? Is TVP garbage? Or do you think it could actually play a small part in getting in some good protein? Its cheap as hell! 1.99lb

they can use many things to make veggie burgers or hotdogs, but soy is common. I prefer gluten based "fake" meats.

Im vegetarian for well over 7 years and eat it all the time, soya and other veggie based TVP.
People over react with the whole soya thing, there is MANY positives also with it and its even more silly in our community because we will use supps or aas that raise estrogen alot yet soya would be so small yet there is this histaria about it.

for my protein power i only use maybe 5-10% soy the rest is rice or whey protein ( i make my own blend) and it works very well. i do limit my soy were i can, but I sure dont go out of my way to, i focus more or non GMO foods, thats a much MUCH bigger concern in USA and canada then eating some soya.
