I think this is more of a gym myth than anything else. If you hit your daily macros, you will break even. If you are in a caloric surplus, you will gain weight. In a caloric deficit, you will lose weight.
the body is a fairly forgiving machine, and the timing of when you eat carbs, to a certain extent, really doesn't have much of an impact on whether or not you will lay on fat.
I'm sure others will disagree
There's no physiological mechanism in the body that makes carbs before bed turn to fat while carbs during the day goes towards energy or muscle building
