    Transitioning into a deficit

I'm transitioning from a surplus to a deficit, the way I'm planning to do is is by taking 100 calories from my total daily intake every 3-4 days.

I've currently just moved from 3200, down to 2700 over 3 weeks, and have maintained weight the whole time. I'm guessing due to water fluctuation etc.

What are some opinions on transitioning into a deficit? Slowly cutting calories? moving to maintanence then slowly cutting calories to find your sweet spot? Moving straight into a deficit?

I cut calories every two weeks because it takes my body that long to show any effect from whatever I changed. I usually cut calories until I am 850-1000 under TDEE and then I use my other tricks. Basically, as long as I am burning fat I do not change anything.

I jump right a 350-500 cal deficit and adjust from there. i dont slowly taper, it would take so long to stop each time and assess which is working. Jump to a deficit that is more substantial and adjust from there i my opinion.

I agree with this. Maybe transitioning from a cut to
A bulk you'd find possible benefits of tapering cals upwards but when going to a cut from a bulk I just jump in the deep end.

IMO they both work fine. ive done both and prefer to start at maintenance and drop cals weekly mainly in the form of carbs at 20-30 each time. periodically drop fats by 5g or so. i just have had a better experience doing it this way.

i also prefer to increase cardio the same way (slowly). and vice versa when reversing back to maintenance/bulk.

    whatever works for you.

Awsome advice, cheers fellas. I need to maintain weight for another 2 weeks while I finish my strength program.

Initially I was going for the reverse diet idea (because I didn't have a proper understanding of it) and using it to transition into a cut but then realised it's for training your metabolism back up to a higher basal basal rate, so that's just wrong lol.
