    Substitute for whey protein

I am doing a 30 day paleo diet challenge and looking for your recommendations on a good tasting substitute for whey protein. Brands and flavor. Thank you!!

I thought protein powder by definition was not paleo? Confused. What are the requirements for paleo protein powder?

I'm on the Primal diet and they have some proteins that meet Paleo but whey is best metabolized from what I have found and used.

If you want a whey substitute I'd recommend beef protein. Muscle meds has a decent brand.

Pea protein is garbage. It's incomplete. I never sold a single tub out of the supp store I was working in.

You have pea and rice protein like the following product:

    http://www.islandsupplements.com/ai-...ey-2-3lbs.html

A hemp based protein such as this one:

    http://www.islandsupplements.com/hemp-protein.html

A vegan protein such as these two:

    http://www.sunwarrior.com/store/warr...illa-500g.html

    http://sann.net/products/vegan-prote...er-raw-fusion/

Also don't forget quinoa, which I believe is a complete protein.

I tried it, it has a bit of a different taste, kinda like the old cheap powder from back in the day. My buddy says it doesn't sit too well, gassy and bloated feeling. But if it fits you can try it in smaller amounts to see how it sits with you.

I have no clue what the paleo entails

But, the best protein hands down other than whey is egg. It tastes better and has a slightly better nutrition value.

Isn't it true that egg whites need to be cooked before the body can utilize all the protein?

fresh egg whites are like snot. Pasteurised egg whites just have a slightly thicker consistency than water.

Egg white powder is rank. Weirdo

After all the negative reviews I may just ditch the protein shake which I have been having 2 per week. On Tuesday and Thursday I do weights and an hour of cardio after work. I can't eat b4 my workouts bc it just sits on my tummy and makes me feel bad. So I am starving by the time I get done so I had been drinking a shake in my car on way home. I typically don't eat anything else cuz go to bed in another hour.

I have gained weight in the last year. For most of the last year I was dealing with ALOT of bs at work, hired an attorney, lawsuit. working long hours just bc of a toxic employee. That's all behind me but stress eating and no working out showed up on the scale.

I started paleo diet today for 30 day challenge. It's highly restrictive diet but appealing to me because of the flat stomach results. I have 20 lbs to lose plus I like to loose another 10. That would get to down to 15% bf.

Paleo is basically meats healthy fats and veggies.

If I am not mistaking fruits are allowed, if your goals to to lose fast I would ditch them.

this diet will increase highly your insulin sensitivity after 30 days.

    Good luck chicka!!!

    Thx!!!

Lean Meat and fruits allowed. No processed food, grains, dairy, legumes. I do not plan on eating a lot of fruit but did buy some blueberries.

Ppl post 7/14/21/28 day progress pics online. It's amazing change in such a short period of time. I am also taking a med for insulin resistance with added benefit of weight loss. Hope to see some amazing results in short period of time. Will workout 5 days a week including 3 weight training and 4 one hour cardio.

I didn't know that. I just posted my Thursday leg day in Marcus diary

I don't know that I can eat cinnamon by teaspoons although I have been using kelkel's red Chinese rice yeast powder which tastes like clay and tastes like sh!t IMHO.

I will sprinkle cinnamon in my coffee (since removed the sugar free creamer) and whatever else looks cinnamon friendly.

    Thx for the advice!

After doing more research, protein powder is not highly regarded in the paleo world. However other paleo dieters seemed to converge on paleo pro products .com as the preferred source. They have a beef and egg protein combination in 3 flavors that does appear to taste decent. Apparently paleo friendly protein powder tastes like crap. Downside is it is liquid gold at high price point of 37$/pound.

On the bright side I am 2 days in to paleo eating and very encouraged already. Less puffiness in my gut. Very encouraged!!!
