Liking my new Fasted Cardio routine, but just heard Jerry Brainum say it was wrong.
So im waking up every morning at 4:00 and jumping on the treadmill a 4:30 after some coffee, aspirin, and albuterol.
after an hour of 3.5 speed walking, I eat eggs and oatmeal at 6:00, and then train at 7:30.
Now, of course my goal is to gain muscle and burn fat at the same time,
But, i definitely give the priority at the moment to lowering my bf%, over focusing on building new muscle.
Anyway, i was watching a video of Jerry Brainum's in which he claims fasted cardio is a "myth" in the sense that it supposedly burns alot of muscle glycogene, and that one would be much better off to train first, and them jump on the cardio immediately after, when glycogene has already been depleted. Perhaps i dont want to change my current setup, or dont walk to do training and cardio back-to-back, but i really hope he is wrong lol. I like my current routine.
I dont know what to think now? Any thoughts?

The body of evidence generally shows that there is no extra benefit of doing fasted cardio, the most beneficial cardio routine is the one most consistently utilized. Here's an interesting article i just read on it.

I have run 4-5 miles a day first thing between 4-4:30 AM every morning in the fasted state for over 20 years. It has just been a routine of mine. I can agree (from my own experience) with Khazima and GirlyGymRat in that it isn't essential to fat loss. I have found however, that it revs up the metabolism and gets me ready for the day. I should say that I always run after 45 minutes of HIIT weights, and my run is only HIIT.
