    What is my TDEE?

Recently had a BodPod tell me my TDEE as an active person is 4000 calories!! That just doesn't seem right. I need to cut down chub, but to do this i need an accurate TDEE. Any advice?

    227* 0.86 = 195 lbm
    195 * 15 = 2928 tdee

TDEE is your maintenance calories plus caloric cost of all the activities you do over the day. Person working physically will have a higher TDEE then person working in office....

A triathlete or marathon runner may have that TDEE

I think your maintenance cals is around 2900

Thanks Mike. Do you agree then that 4000 is definitely too high?

Started a blast and want everything just right as I don't want anymore body fat. I could go with less body fat, however, I can't waste the blast for building muscle. Planning a volume type workout plan training muscles twice weekly for the cycle as oppose to my usual HIT. This increased activity should contribute to calorie burn.

I just need a good idea of a realistic TDEE for me. You agree with both others at 2900?

    Thanks RajunCajun,

How do you figure that specifically?

Same way as mr-f, your lean body mass x 15. Just add about 200-300 cals to bulk or just eat at maintenance for a few weeks to see how your body responds

And no multiplyer, that is your maintenance

Why no multiplier? We are all different activity levels and that is supposed to figure into determining our true maintenance, no?

2900 sounds about right, just trying to understand the math behind it better.

i want to say that the formula came from lyle mcdonald but i could be wrong.

cannot for the life of me remember where it came from but that is what i normally go off of.

yes, every one is different so that is where i think the number 15 comes from, kind of like an average number.

i do not think there is a finite number to TDEE or a true maintenance since one does not do the same things every single day.

Yes it's in Austinites protocol as well... It work for most... And that's how I do it as well! Just add to bulk and take away for cutting...
