I believe this is it. PLOS Genetics: Genome-Wide Diet-Gene Interaction Analyses for Risk of Colorectal Cancer

Same marker at least! It was an interesting read...

This is very interesting. It seems the data suggest that people who eat a lot of processed and red meat do not get enough fiber for whatever reason which would be the main cause. Not sure one can assume that getting enough fiber would help eliminate some of these concerns but I hope so or I am screwed as I take both supplements and get enough fiber in my food ;-)

^^^Now that's something. To me it makes sense to a certain degree when you think about heavily processed foods and the majority of those that consume them rarely get a sufficient amount of fiber to process the edible plastic they just carelessly engulfed. Just have to use some sense of moderation.

Tarmyg, certain dietary fibers are hygroscopy in nature. (soluble fibers act as a biological fermentation for probiotic bacterium production and insoluble fiber act as a hygroscopic entity to draw water and hold it in for pain free bowel passage) A more hydrated load passing through our gastrointestinal tract flows easier and faster versus a overly dehydrated encrusted fecal blob aka the constipated bowel movements. Also, the hygroscopic nature allows our digestive system to maintain it's plasticity via optimal hydration. Without H20 this active response to dietary changes and nutritional absences becomes ineffective. Our microvilli, who are responsible for absorption/transportation, located on the brush border membrane (gastrointestinal columnar epithelium) will go to hell from the absence of water.
