The Calculus of Calories: Quantitative Obesity Research

This talk blew my mind. I am sure that for many, the stuff in here is common knowledge, for me, it was not. One of the most fascinating part of the talk was, IMHO, the study done in Biggest Loser, Season 9, where they got to really look at how much they eat and train. Turns out they are WAY more successful than people who do Gastric Bypass in terms of burning off fat and preserving muscle tissue. Anyone who is interested in projecting fat loss should not miss this talk. It is fascinating but probably only for the nerds of us :-)

calculus + metabolic biochemistry = witchcraft

This should be a staple in introductory/intermediate education on nutritional science for anyone just starting. On a serious note, great post! I'm going to have to listen to this a few times because numbers are like hieroglyphs to me.
