question about insulin boosting after a workout with high glycemic carbs

I know everyone says to do this after a workout, but I was asked why or how exactly it helps. Part of me wanted to just say it helps nutrients get to the muscles better lol but I think that would just be bro science (I don't really know why, just that a lot of people who know their shit say to do it.) If you guys could let me know, I'd really appreciate it.

You are not far off as to why some recommend doing it. There is a supposed "anabolic window" post training and some believe (and many more used to believe) you can capitalize on it by creating an insulin spike post workout. The purpose supposedly is that by creating a spike of insulin you can rapidly replenish glycogen stored and shuttle much needed nutrient and amino acids to the muscle.
My opinion on the entire matter is that there is no way you can possibly create an insulin spike naturally (by eating hi gi carbs) that would be effective enough to make any difference in building muscle at all. Nothing can really justify the intake of that much sugar IMO. In my mind the costs are much greater than any potential benefit.
Now if your talking about using exogenous insulin thats a different story but that isnt what we are discussing here.

I agree with Jimmy. Only exogenous insulin is going to create the anabolic opportunities of using slin. But it s dangerous, you can get fat quickly, and many do not recommend it or support its use.

Make sure you are ingesting amino acids and keep it simple...except for the carbs
