    How big of a deal are carbs/fats if protein is in check?

    My question is how big of a deal are carbs/fats if someone has their protein and calories on point?

    I do not count my macros besides protein and I am pretty good at knowing at the end of the day if I gained or lost weight and I'm usually right when I weigh myself every morning.

    I know my fats are a fair bit higher than my carbs, but I still eat a good amount of carbs. Am I missing out on muscle gain and/or fat loss by doing this?

    My protein is always well over 1g per pound of bodyweight. I weight 175-180 and I always hit around 220-250g of protein daily.

    Thanks in advance

    I have played with that in what feels like forever and have never noticed a lick of a difference unless I start pushing carbs to sub 50g which is when I enter ketosis.

    Question back at you, what are your goals?

    Aesthetics or performance?

    My goals are aesthetics. I value performance but if I had to choose between the two I would choose aesthetics for sure

    I'm a carb dependent person,, I cant function properly (mentally or physically) on anything less than 100-150 grams

    Protein is the easiest of all the macros to count. It's the one with the largest margin of fudge factor.

    It's much better especially for aesthetics to be very strict with carbs and fats

    Your not counting macros if you disregard 2/3rds of the macros...

    Yeah, not claiming I do. Like I said in my original post I only keep track of protein

    id say if you want to stay loose with the counting, you would be fine as long as your hitting your minimums. make sure your carbs are not dropping below X amount and make sure your fats are not dropping below X amount. after that its personal preference as far is I can tell.

    aesthetics = bf%

    No matter how bad your genetics are 9% bf will look better than 20%. Carbs and fat are the keys to bf%.

    Gains vs bf% is the game.
