Protein in shop bought eggs
Hi. In the shop i can find free range eggs, and i always buy them. But the shop not always have free range eggs. Sometimes, the shop have eggs from housed hens. Free range eggs are good, because the chikens can eat insects and everything they want, because they are free. Chickens in housed hens dont recieve sun, they get mental disorder as canibalism, and most of them die from stress. I know the nutrition value is different - i mean vitamins and minerals. But what about proten? Does eggs from chickens from housed hens contains the same amount of protein as the eggs from free range chickens? The difference is that the housed hens eggs contain less minerals and vitamins, but the protein amount is the same, right?

eggs are eggs... doubt there is any significant difference in protein/fat levels between free range and caged eggs.. also free range could mean that they let the chickens out of their cages for 20 minutes/day and now your paying twice the price for basically nothing... you could just get your own chickens i guess..

Chickens require too much care. I live in a city, not village. I have houses with big yards, but its still very hard and i prefer to buy eggs. Ok but see now... When i buy eggs from housed hens, the liquid white is much more liquid than the eggs that claims to be free range. When the eggs from housed hens are cooked, the white is very soft and have almost no taste. When i buy eggs that claims to be free range, their cooked white is harder and rich in taste, and their liquid white is not too liquid. Is this guarantee? Or how i can to determine the quality of egg?
And how many grams housed hens eggs have?Last edited by Sok123; 07-04-2018 at 07:30 AM.

as this article states, yes free range eggs are better than caged eggs, but some farmers just let their chickens out onto concrete areas on occasions, so that they can call their eggs "free range"
only way to know for sure would be to go to the farm and see for yourself....

Chickens are a blast and anyone can raise them, unless the law says different. I've had them living in an apartment, farm, and neighborhood. They are a delight and wonderful therapy! 3 mature hens will give you close to an egg a day each. Once they really get going, it's not uncommon to get 4-6 eggs a day from 3 hens. They are hassle free and you know where your food is coming from.
I'm a chicken farmer for both meat and eggs. There is no comparison in taste and texture of either. We keep 12 layers in a 12'x12' run, and they have a 4'x6' roasting coop with nesting boxes. I keep 2 chicken tractors with 24-36 chickens and 3 stud roosters for those meat chickens. Slaughter happens at 8-12 weeks, and I've always got a rotation on them so that there is always meat when needed. My layer hens are pets and once they hit about 4 or 5 years old, I retire them to the woods to free range and love life. Lol. I love chickens and sorry to derail.

The article shows difference only for vitamins. I take vitamins from other sources. Im asking only about the protein. The article dont tell in the different eggs have different amount of protein, so the protein is the same amount in all kinds of eggs?
PT1982, you are right. In future may i will rise some chickens, but for now i cant

I want to know how many grams of protein the differend kind of eggs contains. The label of the package says "controlles free farming" and it seems good. Maybe i will continue to use these eggs. But i still need somebody to help me to understand does differend kinds of eggs contain different amount of protein

3g protein in white, 3g protein in yolk. 6 grand total free range or not.
Local Aldi's has eggs $0.40-$0.68 a dozen.
I buy 12 dozen a week, I eat 20 a day (18 whites 2 whole with yolk)
