Rapid Fat Loss and Gear

I have been reading Lyle McDonald RFL and in the past I have had really good results with similar approaches: stuff my face with veggies and eat a bunch of protein.
Presently, I am dealing with shoulder, hip and low back issues and lifting is very limited and not as much fun.
I do a lot of rehab and 3X a week Hot Yoga (and feel great afterwards)
My cardio is pretty limited as I can't do any impact and bikes make my hip flexors tight.
Training nowadays is long, hard, boring and I and feeling pudgy.
I am thinking of using the concepts of RFL and Jim Wendler's 5, 3, 1 with my rehab HOT YOGA routine not sure about gear, please read in full before answering.

47 yo
20 y lifting
multiple injuries
200 lbs
15% bf
170 lbs of lbm
diet = 2000 kcal, 1360 k cal protein, 640 kcal rest (70g fat)
Food: basically basically lean animal protein and vegetables
Training:
Rehab – daily
Hot Yoga – 2-3 X a week
Lifting – modified Jim Wendler 5/3/1

Question: gear or no gear?
I have test and winnny but not sure if I should take it while doing this or drop my bf to -10% before starting

I have done both in the past and was waiting to start after having these issues solved

You need blood work and figure out why and what you want to actually run
Are you looking for something like TRT or you want to b/c yearly now?

Any stories on the previous injuries and whats the deal today post injury?

If I was you I would run the gear as it may help with recovery (but than again, i like gear so don't listen until you are sure you are 100% ready)

Thank you for your input.
My goal with gear would be to avoid muscle wasting.
50 mg winny a day is my plan
or 400mg of test/week
Looking to run this experiment for 8 weeks

Winny is not a good idea when injured nor is it a smart plan running alone. 400mg of Test for 8 weeks is also not going to give a muscle protecting bubble. HGH is the anti muscle wasting drug, that's why it's prescribed to people with muscle wasting disease. However, again 8 weeks is not going to do anything impactful.

Being out of the gym during an injury is not going to make you deflate rapidly. When I got into a car accident I stopped the gym all together and still kept about 60-65% of my physique even after the first year.

I would eat a couple hundred calories above your TDEE but not with your macro split. High protein, low fat, and no carbs imo is the worst and most unhealthy macro split.

Would suggest doing a tweaked cookie cutter body builder 40/20/20 macro split based on your bio-individuality, or doing keto or low carb.

Once your recovered and back on track from where you left off, then worry about gear.

Why even go on cycle at that point? Don't you think a good TRT protocol would help more than cycle since TRT is long term and will help put on weight in the long term rather than running burst cycles of 8-12 weeks?

To clarify I didn't mean to start cycling the day after the rehab/physiotherapist gives the green light on recovery but to build up a base to springboard off of.

TRT could be the best option at 47 years old - It's a personal choice that needs to weight out the pros/cons.

No I understand what you meant, I'm pointing out perhaps TRT would be better than b/c (depending on the guys current bw idk, I think TRT would be a good start)

My.observation with diets of this nature are pretty catastrophic tbh, they will make you mentally wacked out and simultaneously prime yourself for fat gain. Absolutely brutal all around.

a "rapid fat loss" diet is a sure fire way to lose some muscle. either take a more slow steady approach (your 15% body fat, thats not bad at all), or as you asked about , take gear. I see nothing wrong with running some test and winny to aide in your goals

Step 1 is full blood work. CBC, CMP, hormone panel, thyroid panel, LH & FSH, etc.

Honestly the only type that should even go through w this diet type is someone very very obese.
