Dizzy spells
Hello all
Not sure if this is a diet/nutrition type question.
But no matter what I eat I regularly get a feeling of dizziness and weakness that seam to come out of no where and last most of the day.
This leaves me pretty much useless and everything other than sitting down seams like total effort.
I’m 6ft and 250lb thick set but when I feel like this, I could be leathered by a teenager as I just have absolutely no strength.
Can anyone give me any idea what could be causing this?
I recently had bloods done which revealed low test (can’t see specialist for 3 months) and vitamin D (started on 20000iu week for 8 weeks).
But everything else was fine not diabetic etc.
I’ve tried eating chocolate when I feel dizzy but no change, done blood pressure which is fine.
Can’t figure it out but just feel like lying down in a dark room most days.

Sorry you're feeling like crap. You didn't say how old you were, but low-T can definitely cause feelings of lethargy. You're pretty heavy for 6 ft. You should be around 210, or a bit more if you're muscular. Right now you just have to wait and see, but I would definitely try to lose some excess fat wherever you can. If you get put on TRT, excess fat will lead to more conversion from testosterone > estrogen, and you don't want that. In males, the visceral fat is one of the main places testosterone gets converted into estrogen.
The other big possibility is that you may have some form of sleep apnea. Do you snore a lot? I'm 6'2" and range from 240-245 lbs. If I get close to 250, my sleep quality goes to shit and I snore like hell. Sleep apnea itself can cause low-t. Download a sleep study app on your phone that will record you while you sleep. They give you a sleep score and you can hear yourself. I didn't know I snored as bad as I did until I used this app.

Hi TM
Thank you for the reply, I’m 43 and yeah I’m definitely carrying far to much weight, I’m happy around 215 but have put on 35lb in the last year or so, with the gyms being shut and comfort eating, I feel like a slob tbh.
Whenever I try to diet again I start to get this dizzy/weak spell and give up after a couple of days!
I have a bought a good gym set up now through lockdown (in UK) just don’t have the motivation to use it and my diet is horrendous with no real structure at all, have upset stomach all the time, no regularity, I occasionally vomit for no reason, waste good food constantly.
I just can’t seem to get into the swing of things, maybe you are right about sleep to as I never feel rejuvenated after a sleep!
Need help seriously!

The thing is, we all have a threshold of when enough is enough. Some of us have to put on 100 lbs and become diabetic to realize what's important. You're already taking action toward your health, and you know what you need to do. Eat better, lose weight, exercise more, and sleep. None of these things are a mystery to most people, yet we procrastinate. I've been having a lot of acid reflux for a while, and I've just put up with it and haven't changed my diet. Until saturday, when I thought I was going to die from the pain in my esophagus. That prompted me to eat less spicy foods. You have to figure out what the line is for you and make the changes to feel better.

Thanks again for the response,
I have a simple workout plan drawn up that I should be able to maintain.
Hopefully add some cardio which I have never implemented before.
In the past the only way I’ve made any kind of progress is by weighing and logging my food meal by meal.
Hopefully I can find the motivation to get started again, god knows I need to!

Hi Kel
I spoke to my doctors after you posted on my other thread and have asked for BW results but am still waiting on them emailing me, they only discussed vit D and test results as they were the only two out of range I’m guessing but I could be wrong, I’ll post what bw I had when I get it.
They have referred me to the endocrine department but the soonest appointment isn’t till April.
I have a long wait to see anyone is there anything I can be doing in the meantime as if it’s low test that’s making me feel like this it’s horrendous

Re your copy of blood work. Assuming it's a mainstream lab just make an account on line and you should be able to see your blood work. Then you'll always see it a few days after your doc does. They always give them a head start.
It may be quicker to switch to a Urologist. Do some research in your area and see who you can find and check reviews. If you locate someone interesting give them a call and ask to speak to one of the nurses. Ask how they treat patients with low T. Do they use gels, pellets, self-injections, all of the above?
Take a look at the Finding A Doc sticky thread at the top of this forum.
Really the only thing you can do is live a healthy lifestyle. Get solid nutrition in line with your goals and get good rest.
If you are diagnosed again with low T. Find out what the root cause is:
Secondary hypogonadism: (pituitary failure)
Primary hypogonadism: (testicular failure)
Andropause : (pretty much a combination of both)
Hypothyroidism: (know that this can cause hypogonadism)
Keep doing your research and write down any questions you may have for your next doc visit. He works for you, not the other way around.
If you're sticking with your endo I'd call the office and express how poorly you feel and ask at least to fill in for anyone who cancels their appointment.

Hi Kel
Thank you for the input, I’m based in the UK and it’s not as easy here. It’s a long drawn out process to get anything from a GP, I have had to get to the state I’m in just to get a simple blood test.
I don’t have the choice of endo or urologist, We just get what we are given, my case has been classed as urgent yet I still have to wait 3 months to see anyone.
My doctor didn’t say anything really and I won’t have any say so as to which doctor I see, it’s completely different over here it really is.
I feel the way I do and have to wait 3 months, then I can almost guarantee when I do see the next doctor, they will tell me to have another blood test probably adding the LH and FSH then I’ll have to wait another 3 months to get the results from that.
With covid lockdown restrictions, I will be at the absolute bottom of the list of priorities.
It’s crazy but I think I’m expected to help myself for 3-6 months.
