hey big texan, mind if i make a suggestion.....

a much better alteranative to ground chuck is lean ground turkey. you can find it next to the hamg meat in most grocery stores

with the lean ground turkey there is usually only 15 or so grams of fat per 50 grams of protein. ground chuck is almost 30 g fat per 50 g protein (90% of which is saturated)

    just an fyi

Thanks Physco, I may try it, I just use it to get my red meat in. I go to our local meat market and have it made up to where it's "supposed" to be 95% fat free. It looks and cooks like it's alot leaner than most ground chuck. But I'll give the ground turkey a try.

Yeah, my bad Psycho, I used to buy that crap until I actually read the label. That's when we just started going to our local meat amrket and buying everything there. I'm still gonna try that ground turkey just see if I like it.

for a cheat you can use it to make spaghetti instead of hamb meat. tastes pretty damn good. just make sure you watch the sugars in the spaghetti sauce

I mkae my own spaghetti sauce. I like to cook and am considering if a job I'm trying get doesn't come through to go to culinary school. But that does even sound better with spaghetti, perphaps even in chili.

I make some chili which I consider to be quite good.
2 lbs Ground Bison (leaner than beef, and I think Turkey too)
1.5 lbs Ground Sirloin (95% lean)
1 28oz can diced tomatoes (drained)
1 small can diced tomatoes (drained)
3 cans chili hot beans (15 oz. I think)
    1 can black beans (drained)
2 packages reduced sodium taco seasoning
whatever peppers you like ( I like jalapeno, crushed red, and Habanero)

This makes enough for me and my wife to each have about a 12-16 oz serving daily for 4 to 5 days in a row.

I think it was Big Texan that said that beans are a good carb source. Later all. Mark

    thanks guy's .
ya seems like red meat is the way to go as far as getting any size on. now what is the best cut .i know round is but for hamburg which would you use that is not so expensive .especially if your ingesting 1 lb a day of the stuff .

Ground turkey is awesome but doesnt it cost a fortune as well.

what about omega's are they ok to consume everyday (tuna ,salmon)
