Thats 164 cals right? Why does the can say 150?
Dr Pepper (generic)
39g carbs (38g sugar)
156 cals
Can says 160
Dont these things have to be exact? Isnt that what the FDA is for?
What am I missing?
Both have 0g pro and fat.
They may be using different methods for counting the calories. From what I remember, there are three ways to calculate calories, weight, mathematical content and burning. Just like finding an average, mean, mode or median. You can have three different answers, very close, but not quite the same either. As long as they can substantiate it with the FDA, they are all valid methods of calculating calories and acceptable. As a business person, I'm sure I would do all three methods and use the one with the lowest number.
Buy diet...only 1 calorie. :D

Ah I dont really care about that. I wasnt wanting to know from a dieting standpoint, just a curious standpoint.

I think DB's right - i remember studying something similar as an undergrad - if you really look, calories never add up with what's on the label - and there's always some variance with testing. They measure calories one way, then test for the amount of sugar another way...it's close but not exact. I usually take the # of grams as accurate (especially when looking at carbs), rather than just relying on calorie counts...JMO
