No. Unless you are in contest prep, which I doubt you are. Cheat meals are relatively essential in cutting phases.
cheat meals help keep your sanity from being lost in eating clean 6 days a week.
figure you eat 42 (6 a day times 7 days) meals per week...if you eat perfectly for 39 of them and reserve three for one day a week then you are eating perfect 93% of the time. two meals = 95% perfection and only one cheat meal a week is98% perfection...hope that puts it into perspective as to how much cheat meals can affect the diet. if i eat 93 - 95% perfectly in 7 days then im happy.
I think cheat meals are beneficial on a cutting diet...they keep your body from adjusting to your calorie intake and slowing your metabolism...and of course, they keep you sane and dedicated to what you do the other 6 days of the week. I think this is why so many people yo-yo diet...because they don't allow themselves to cheat ever, so they feel deprived and just give up.
Cheat days are essential while cutting. You gotta give your thyroid a kick in the ass on a regular basis or your progress will slow down to a crawl.
A cheat meal is a good dieting tool to reward yourself for all your hard work during the week. A cheat day on the other hand will do more harm than good, especially if you don't already have a 6-pack and your metabolism is not faster than a jackrabbit on wheels.
If this is true, I am straight up F'ed. I love my cheat days!!!!
