Is it good to add flax seeds(not oil, just the seeds)into a diet?
Its dirt cheap and I nowdays mix it with my oatmeal breakfast. Can the body utilise any of the fat in the seeds or do they pass through undigested?

It's good, yes, but I'd avoid mixing it with oats. (Fats/carbs together at anytime I personally tend to shy away from) Low GI or not, I don't take those chances.
Oil is also easier for me to dump into shakes.

Actual fatty acid profile for the seeds was not listed but I believe it would be the same ratios as the oil per grams of fat.
Tatertoos what would i do with out you?![]()
Btw for thoes who dont know, seeds are much cheaper then oil.. i bought a LB of seed for 3$...
Regarding seeds...Must they be milled/ground to get the oil to be digestable.(I heard a rumor somewhere that if not milled, they go out the same way they come in; therefore, no nutrients gained or lost!!!)
the seeds are fine.....they;re less fat per serving and have carbs, but it's mostly fiber and like you said much cheaper...i personally use the oil because i dont like drinking textured shakes. most seeds i've seen are milled so that's not an issue...i dont think it should be something of concern to anyone.
I heard the seeds(maybe the seed meal?) were good to put into nighttime cottage cheese...Give you some fat, fiber, and texture...Never tried it....
i grind my seeds in the coffee grinder throw them into my omlet in the moring and into my last meal at night.. they dont really have any taste unless you chug them by the gallons..
bump!
