is lean ham a good choice for protein in a cutting diet?

im not a big fan of cold cuts on a regular basis because even though it's lean there may be added sugars and definitely added salt. though salt shouldnt be of too much concern the serving size of ham has like double the recommended dose of sodium. also pork is apparently not the best type of protein though i can only say that based on what ive heard so no real evidence behind it.
I didn't mean lunch meat. I'm talking about a lean ham; they're small hams, like the size of two fists. No sugar added. Some salt.

If it's not processed and is low in sodium...
Sounds alright to me..especially since there's no sugar added. A lot of times you'll find hams with a lot of added honey or brown sugar. Sodium isn't a big deal unless it has a whole lot of it.
i eat Bores Head Ham with cheese rolled up.. never really gave the sodium any thought and its completely carb free..
