Lose 2.25lbs per week. Is this safe?
Stats: 170lbs 5'7 26yrs
I want to start cutting. My goal is 155 by the end of May, so I have less than 7 weeks. Thats roughly losing 2.25 lbs a week. Is losing that much weight in a week healthy? To be more specific, is losing that much weight going to rob me of my muscle? I want to do this the healthy way with good diet and exercise.
Any feed back would be very appreciated.

depends....i wouldn't judge by weight though, go get your body fat checked and find a target bf and shoot for that. most will say 1-2 pounds a week is ok but you will probably lose some muscle.

You can go by weight to determine a goal. Your most likely going to do what your gonig to do no matter what, so just make sure to get a boat load of protein to combat the muscle wasting.

With the response I have been getting it seems I may not have been very specific in my question or I may be approaching this the wrong way, I apologize. I will look at this in the way of targeting body fat instead.
Im currently between 16%-17% body fat. I want to look lean and my abs somewhat showing, im not looking to be really shredded in 7 weeks. I understand you need to be at least 13% or below to see your full abs so I want to go for 14% and if end up below that then even better, but 14% is what im shooting for in 7 weeks.
Is 14% reasonable in 7 weeks without compromising any muscle? I want to gear my diet and exercise to this.

well if your at 170 and at 17% then to get down to 13% all you really need to drop is about 7lbs. Now if you haven't been dieting before this should be extremely easy to do in the next 4 weeks or so. If you have been dieting pretty hard it m aybe a littlehardre but not impossible. Its all about diet and cardio. Good luck.

This is very possible. just hit the cardio 3-4 times a week. and concentrate on eating clean healthy foods and load up on protein.
