There is no one amount the body can store. It's all relative to how much sodium you ingest and how much water you ingest.

Carbohydrates seem to effect my water retention, mostly, since I keep sodium relatively low. If I load up on carbs, I can gain 5-7lbs overnight!!!!
The body holds up to 6 pounds of water not including your organs or things made up primarily of water, but how much you personally hold is dependent on the things swole said.
i dont mean to jump on the thread but its the same topic, is it ok to drink 1 whole gallon of water during workouts? or is it too much for the body to handle at one time?
How do you manage to drink an entire gallon? How long are you in the gym?
To me that seems very extreme, being that I consume only about 1-1.5 gallons of water per day.

If I drink more than 48oz of water at a time, my eyes start to feel like they're bulging out of my head![]()
As of right now my sodium intake is pretty high, I put salt on just about anything I eat, although I am countering with at LEAST a gallon of water a day. What would happen if I dropped all sodium BUT still kept drinking the 1 gallon+ water a day? Any chance of increase in fat loss???
