Umm..why would you want your dad on HRT...why doesn't he do it himself? If he feels he has the symptoms of low test have him go get bloodwork done. We're not doctors. HRT is low dose testosterone therapy usually.

First things frist. Is your dad even hypogonadal? Start up by talking to his doc and running some blood tests. Not every fat, lazy older guy has low test. (Dont mean to say your dad is fat or lazy. LOL)

Assuming he is low, he would have to take testosterone . In most cases it is for life. He could do something like androgel which is a cream that he rubs on every morning or he could do a weekly shot. Most hrt clinics may also add a little hcg to the program and some anti estrogens. Cost for test replacement program is probably around $80-$100 per month. Insurance may cover it.

HRT patients tend to be very involved and "hands on" so it would be to his benefit if he starts reading and becomes educated. I would guess that alot of guys on this board have more knowledge on male HRT then 95% of the MDs out there.
