    Question About T3/t4 Thyroid...

Hi, i am not sure anyone will be able to answer. my thyroid was always normal, but on the lower end of normal. i started taking T3 25ug ed, i have been doing this for 5 years. the thing is, my T4 has always been normal. this means that my thyroid was still working making T4 right? i got blood work done and my T3 was high and T4 was low, but that was b/c i had just taken my cytomel before the test. so my DR. put me on T4 plus the T3 i has always been on. now my T4 was low again at this testing and i am feeling tired all the time. i think the T4 she put me on was just enough to shut me down, but not enough to make me better. again i am not hypothyroid and now i feel like an idiot for even deciding to treat myself with T3.

my question is this, i am going to stop taking the T4, which i have only been on for 2 moths, and stop taking the T3 which i have been on for 5 years. but my thyroid is normal, or at least it was. i am hoping that even after being on T3 for 5 years my thyroid will kick back in and work on its own.

does anyone have any experince with this?

    THANKS

Wow don't know anyone that has been on t-3 that long. I am very interested to so how coming off this works. Please keep us up dated. I am on Thyroid armour which is a version of t4 which I was told at 60mcgs converts to 25mcgs of t3. At least that is what the thyroid armour website says. Personally I would cut back slowly so you don't feel tired all the time. Cut the t4 then cut down on the t3. Again keep us posted.
