HRT and having children
as stated in my last post, my test levels are low due to cycles taken over the past 8 years. at this point in my life to keep my sex drive and muscle mass up, HRT is a must. however, i just got together with my new girlfriend about 7 months ago and we don't plan on having children for quite some time, maybe 5-7 years. i know HRT can make it more difficult to have children, but i really don't have any other option considering without HRT, my sex drive isn't even there anyway. yes, i tried other options to improve my sex drive other than HRT, and all of them were a waste of time. besides, I know my test levels are low and for health reasons on top of the libido increase, I feel the HRT is necessary.
just curious as to how much of a concern there really is as to HRT preventing your ability to have children? i mean i try to take HCG for a few weeks every 4 months or so to try to keep my own test levels up as best as i can, but not sure if there's anything else i can do to make sure that later down the road i should be able to have children?

Go to the doctor and have your sperm count measured, then you'll have a better idea of what is going on in your body and then the Doc can recommend some treatments if neccessary.

yeh....how are test levels and sperm count correlated if at all

honestly haven't done enough research on it to know exactly, just know it can reduce your sperm count because of a decrease in your own bodies production of test. many people had told me not to go onto HRT unless i wasn't planning on having any kids after because it can make it much more difficult. i'm trying to find out exactly why that is considering HRT is kind of a must for me.

A friend of mine cycled non-stop for years and had a complete shutdown... when I asked him how he managed to father 2 boys, he said he just took HCG for a couple weeks when he wanted to get a bun in the oven... on that rationale, I think it's smart to cycle HCG every few months even while on TRT, to make sure your boys are still active from time to time... drugs like pergonal (exogenous LH + FSH) can also be taken towards this end...
hope it helps

yes, someone else actually told me he did the same thing where he was on HRT for years, got divorced, then wanted children with a new wife. all he did was take hcg after they were having issues for a few months and the very next month she was pregnant. well hopefully i'll be able to do the same thing, cause although i'm much happier on HRT, it's not worth the expense of never having children. thanks much for the info!

How do the docs measure your sperm count? Do you have to beat off into a cup and they stick it under a microscope?

I had to do a sperm count for invetro and they made me go in a cup and then they took a count in a certain circumference (like 1 cm or 2 cm) and then they multiply that by how many were in the total circumference of sample given.

My invertro specialist told me to hold off doing anything with HRT or pro-hormone until after the invetro process. I am done with the process and done my part with giving the sperm and I am on to HRT.
