Insurance won't cover injectables
I was on testim and androgel for a few months which my insurance paid no problem ,dr gave me a script for test cyp yesterday and when I go pick it up I had to pay $96 dollars for 10 ml.
I call my insurance to see what gives they tell me they don't cover injectables period well my plan doesn't anyway.
Anyone else have this problem? I have humana insurance by the way.
They told me there was an appeals process but I was told injectables were much cheaper seems like the insurance company would be into saving money.
I guess they make enough it doesn't matter. I mean $96 isn't bad I have paid more than that in the past but I would be much happier if my insurance covered it.

I would appeal if I was you. If you push, they might bend! Ask your doc for some help.

I had this same issue the other day with my new plan. They won't cover injectables.
Pharmacist said to call them and they should, never got around to it though.

Yeah I did pay the $96 and its not that bad actually, I have paid more before I am sure, its just as much as insurance cost and I haven't had any for years I was looking forward to having them cover my scripts.
A discount card would be awesome I would really appreciate you checking on that for me. Thanks

united healthcare gave me the same problem,, no injections covered. then after i called and bitched a little, they transferred me to a "prescription specialist" who eventually "double verified" my script for the cyp with my doc,,, then after about a week they called and said it would be covered from now on.
pain in the ass though, since i waited almost an hour at the drug store, for them to tell me it wasnt covered and made me look like an azzzhole in front of some people there.

Well probably not I know violence against the elderly is frowned on but we or I at least am spoiled and can't go with out power for my toys for to long

You know when I took my script for the cyp and syringes they acted like I was doing something wrong. The first CVS didnt' have the syringes put they had the cyp so I said I would go to the other one their computer said they had it all.
When I get to the other one they have the syringes but no cyp. So I say give me the syringes and I would pick up the cyp at the other location.
The lady says why would you want to do that and acted like I just pissed all over her. So I explain I want to pick them both up now, she is still being obnoxious and when she finds out my insurance wont cover the syringes she wouldn't even sell them to me.
Like she was just going to ruin my day well she didn't now I had 100 or more at the house. But what is the deal they all acted like I was doing something wrong.
The kicker was the doc forgot to put his dea# on the script when they realize this they really went berserk.

I honestly don't know, I went to pick up the syringes today from CVS they ordered for me. Well when I get to the car and look at my receipt I realize they didn't charge me for them so I check the box.
When I open the box I see they are just needles no syringes. Make a long story short when I take them back they said oops and then tell me they can't get the 23g 1" 1cc syringes. WTF
They say they can get 23g 1" 3cc... Fine I say. Then the problem is they have to talk to my Dr before they will give me those, well my Dr has been closed since the hurricane down here.
Then they say they have 30g 1" 1cc syringes in stock they will sell me...Now I start to lose my patience they wont order me the 3cc without talking to my dr. but they will sell me the 30g I can't use without talking to my Dr.
They won't give me any reasonable explanation for this so I made them give me my script back. Now I just have to find a pharmacy that has these.
The funny part is the cyp and syringes are on the same sheet and they gave them both back to me and didn't stamp or mark that the cyp had been filled. Not that I would want any extra cyp or anything.

DAMN dude, what a bunch of crap. I'm guessing I may be going through the same thing since mine is through Bluecross and I have not picked it up yet but online it shows like $95 so I'm guessing my ins wont/isnt going to cover.
What is this discount card??? BTW I go through Wallgreens.
After review of my medical play they MAY cover 25%Last edited by lovbyts; 10-12-2008 at 02:30 AM.

I had a similar problem with my doctors nurse a few days ago...i called to ask for a ** for 23guage 1 1/2 3cc syringe because i have never seen a 1cc syringe for that size needle...the nurse had me on the phone for 15 min. asking all kinds of ?'s and even called cvs pharmacy and then called me back and said they have just what you need 23 guage 1 1/2 1cc syringes...when i get there, i look into the bag and 23guage 1 1/2 3cc ! I about fell on the floor laughing. All that effort the nurse put in to make sure i wouldnt get 3cc syringes...like i'm going to do 600mg of test

first off, i'm confused why you can't just use the 3cc syringe? I think it's actually easier to use. We almost always use a 3cc syringe unless it's something under .5mL injection.
That sucks about going through the hassle. I can go to the local pharmacy and get syringes with no problem.
Insurances are crazy. The fact that your insurance wouldn't cover it until they double checked it with the doctor and the pharmacist makes me think that they have dealt with some abuse in the past. You don't see that kind of abuse with a gel therefore no reason to deny people the gel. I know it's a pain in the ass but i'd rather see that then an insurance company just paying out for someone's steroid use . That to me is just wrong. It just costs you a phone call so they could verify and you're good to go. Little bit of annoyance otherwise they would drive the cost of their insurance up to compensate.
I wish it was 10$ a mL here. I got some test enanthate prescription and it was 20$ a mL. Cost 497$ out of my pocket for 25mL. I was shocked. 10$ a mL isn't bad considering it's legit and some UGL's on the street will charge that much for gear you dont even know about.
