Question about testosterone cream

What is the typical dosage of testosterone in cream?

My dad was prescribed 5mg/day (per 1/4 tspn - came with a little spoon). I thought that sounded really low considering most guys are using at least 100mg/week.

5 or 10mg is the typical dosage. I think its like 50 mg per application but only 5mg gets in your blood stream I am sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong.

I didn't have any luck with the gels but I've read about several people who did, in my opinion injectables are much better.

kidding aside...as swoll stated..sounds like a normal starting dose for conservative docs and if your dad is really low he might notice a nice difference (relief in lethargy, increase in libido, overall well being) but most will crave more and most double that dose very soon....

10mg of androgel had me at a nice 700 total test level and high free test as well but soon after my estradiol (type of estrogen) rose out of range as well to counteract the increase in test...this is where you have to add and anti estrogen so he needs to check his estradiol on future bloodtests

the dose you mention would be about half the 100mg a week inject because 5mg gel ED would be 35mg EW and 100mg inject minus the ester would yield approx. 70mg

I did a few weeks of 5mg gel a day when I started TRT. I then went to 100mgs test cyp (injectable) a week. The gel brought my levels to the lower end of the acceptable range and injections put me in the upper 1/3. Hope this helps.
