Older guys in martial arts?
Any mid-30's and up guys here still competing in martial arts? I've been training in the martial arts for about 10 years or so. I'm 32 and am on TRT. I always feel beat up and sore. It's funny because before I was on the test I was still sore but could run, sprint, etc. Now on the test/arimidex my back screams whenever I run and I my cardio sucks no matter how hard I push it. I literally get the shakes and feel like I'm falling apart when I push too hard, and it's frustrating cause for me there's no other way than hard lol. Anyway, I was asked and am thinking of taking an amatuer MMA fight but don't know if I can get my body in the shape it was in previously. It's really frustrating. Anybody in a similar situation and want to give advice?

Yeah I think the Arimidex was hurting me somewhat. I backed off a bit from it and feel a little better.

I'm 50 and my last fight was when I was 42. I wasn't on any gear just supplements. I just got on HGH 6 months ago and AAS (sustanon 250) 7 weeks ago. I did notice a drop in my endurance but HUGE increase in strength. 1 rep max from 250lbs bench to 335lbs. I have changed my training to focus more on weights while I'm on cycle. I still have 4 more weeks on cycle and PCT. I love hard training. I can normally train younger guys into the ground. But now, with my strength centric training my cardio's gone to heck. I traded cardio endurance for strength. I think it's a phase. I'll get back to endurance training once I'm done with my cycle. The goal is to keep 50% of what I gained and have great endurance.

39 years old and have been grappling for about 5 years. Trained my ass off first 3 years until I tore my rotator cuff. Since going back i have torn my distal bicep tendon and right now i am sitting here recovering from my second rotator cuff surgery.
Sure ill be back training again in a few months and given my luck so far, im sure ill be getting cut open to fix something again.
I train hard, but not to the point I should be blowing tendons left and right. Asked the doc if anything wierd could be going on with my body that tendons are blowing despite never having any injuries...he said the only thing that causes this to happen is using steroids ....I did 2 cycles when i was in my young twenties, doubt that cuased these problems 16 years later.
Anyway, Getting old sucks!

MMA is a young mans sport...and very short lived at that.
MMA is like football...but even more dangerous. I know pro football players who have injuries they will live with for the rest of their lives...and these guys are in their early 30's...just imagine what MMA will do to you in the long haul.
99% of MMA practictioners have a "lose screw"...otherwise they wouldn't do what they do. Its just the nature of the calling...
I have been studying martial arts for over 30 yrs...and as i've gotten older...my focus with martial arts is
more self-defense and very little to do with sport.
I practice combat karate (Japanese style Ju Jitsu).
-It is NOT a Sport.
-There are no rules.
-I get fu*cked up practicing Ju Jitsu...and we don't do full contact. Its Combat Karate and you will get hurt...but nothing like a MMA practitioner.
MMA practionerers, have to accept the aches and pains that come with the sport. You will get hurt...you will be sore.
