    Blood workup timing

Would like some opinions on whether I should have test /est levels checked now to see if hormone levels are out of whack and a possible adjustment is beneficial to reduce BF. Or wait until first of the year after I shed some weight to get a closer to normal weight reading. I’m leaning towards the first of the year, but I’m a born procrastinator.

    Male:
    Age: 55
Weight: 216 (15 lb gain in 2.5 yrs)
BF: 24% (mostly carried around midsection)
    Height : 72”

Workout schedule: Just starting a new 5x5 MWF – cardio: 20 min MWF, 45 min TT

Diet: 3000 cal – low carb\high fat – 6.5 meals a day ~ 40% – 10% – 50% (P-C-F) on non-weightlifting weekdays, 40% - 16%-44% on MWF to get carbs in after workout. Weekends are carb reloading. Plan on reducing cal by 200 every two weeks if not losing a pound a week.

    Health history:
    Zocor for cholesterol – 10mg/day
An arrhythmic medication to keep heart in rhythm – I have Atrial Fib, which is keep under control by the meds. Also 1 aspirin a day to keep the blood thinned.
July of ’08 had an ultra-sound prostrate exam and biopsy done at Urologist, because my PSA, although just within the normal range had risen over 10% in a 6 month period. Results were negative for cancer, and this years check up, PSA had only risen by 0.1 pt.

    Welcome RT.

What could it hurt to get your levels checked? I say go for it and let us know how they turn out.

you're in the target age groups so if you suspect your hormones are off then i would suggest you get checked out as soon as possible. most guys have to go through several doctors before they find a good one.

save some time and money before you make an appointment by calling your local pharmacy and asking which doctors in your area are prescribing Testosterone Cypionate. call the doc first and ask some questions about his treatment methods. also ask what T level he treats patients. if he says as long as they are "in range" he doesn't treat them then hang up and go to the next on your list.

you might have more success with an anti-aging clinic more than any other doc. they seem to be the most knowledgable about TRT. a google search will show clinics in your area.
