    new to hrt, questions

i'm new to the fourm, 50yr 5'7" 170lb, low BF, been working out on/off all my life and did my share of juice back in the 80's-early 90's. Lots of off time in the past few years due to joint pain, tendonitis, etc. I find it's getting harder to workout for more than 4-6 months at a time, shoulder and elbows get me problems.

Anyways, I went to the doc (GP) last week and had my test checked, it's 151. So I'm going back to him next week for a follow up. I suspect he'll want to go the most conservative route, gel or patch, whatever, from experience I know cyp injections work very well. Based on you guys with HRT experience:

    questions:
Does anyone know/use a good HRT doc in the northern VA area?
Whats a usual dose of prescribed cyponate with my T level (151)? 300/wk?
If anyone has had joint / tendon problems has HRT given you any relief?

    thanks

    crg

you wouldnt need 300mg a week to get your levels where you want them and get you feeling stronger/healthier...are the muscles/tendons/joints youre only symptoms?

your other question...100-200mg is a normal starting and maintenance dose of TRT at lest from any doctor that will take your insurance.....above 200mg of test or wanting to add deca for possible joint/tendon relief and/or hgh you would need to go to an anti aging clinic

    hope this helps

^^ jpkman x 2 ^^ He took the post out of my fingers (words out of my mouth).

Also, don't know anyone in your area, just CA. Resource the Internet for Anti Aging solutions and there should be a variety of options for you. Let us know how things progress.

do anti aging clinic's routinely prescribe deca?

i guess the insurance would cover all if it was ref by your GP? I have Tricare/Prime and have never had any questions on any claim.

I had an xray of my elbow taken (they need to play the insurance game of xray first before an MRI) and have a ref to see a orthopod. I'm sure I'll get the standard medical BS-
Me: "It hurts when I do this"
    Doc: "Stop doing that"

    durak-8 more to go

I would guess that 200mg per week would be sufficient... to put you in the 600-800 range.. my score was 200 and i take 200mg/week and my recent test was 700

Personally I dont think it matters much what your score was/is when you are put on HRT in association with how much you take. Someone with a score of 100 could have normal levels with only 100mg per week while someone with a score of 350 might need 200 per week.

You are not really SUPPLEMENTING/Adding to your low test but you are in fact replacing it. Your body is not producing enough and by taking test your body basically stops producing it at all or for the most part so you are taking the amount that your body needs to reach a normal level. That's why most people seem to be right around 200 mg week.

just returned from my Doc, I'm happy as a clam

I got a script for cyp 100mg x 2 per/week and 5 refills..I'll pick up my first 10ml today and inject tonight. He wanted to give me gel, I said "nope, doesnt fit my lifestyle", I really didnt need to push the cyp, I just told him what I wanted and why, along with monthly lab work.
Also as a bonus I got a sample of cialis, a script for cialis and a script for viagra. He wrote me both so I could test them out, suppose to be a bit different?

And as an extra added bonus:
when I went to CVS to fill the script (10ml @100mg/ml, 5 refills ) they told me they dont stock any but they have 5ml @ 250mg/ml..Ok, so they filled it with a 5ml/250mg and KEPT the refills at 5 (an extra 1250mg for me)..and it cost me 9 bucks!

too much good happening today, I fully expect some bad sh*t tomorrow

on the downside, my insurance has an issue with Viagra and Cilias so I'm getting Lavitra instead...BFD right

dont quote me but if i'm doing the math right if you just got the RX and it had 5 refills then you would have had 5 refills no matter if they would have filled the 10ml vial like they were supposed to and if they arent going to stock it(the 10ml vial) then i suggest you transfer you RX asap as your going to lose 1,250mg every fill
hope i'm wrong but double check bro

nope hes gaining ml's. if they had 5ml and 200mg he would be equal. so 5ml at 250mg is more. Now interestingly that odd number is going to make injections more difficult (reading an od number on your pin). But i do 4 shots a week so i like to keep it simple as possible. Im actually surprised a pharmacy is doing this. Mine would never change a script. I actually sat there and waiting for them to clear a change with my doctor when I first started trt. Doc sent in a script for 10ml at 10mg, i said hell no for the same price i can get 200mg strength.

WRT changing the script- I think it's just plain old fashion human error (dont know what the hell they are doing). the folks behind the counter including the pharmacist arent that sharp..I had to school the pharmacist that a 28g 1/2" insulin syringe is not for an oil based IM injection...he must have been out that day when he attended university in Sri Lanka
