    Trt plus

I often forget this forum is HRT, TRT, AND longevity, wellness, anti-aging, alternative medicine...

So I am trying to turn a new leaf. The TRT is giving me the motivation to make some improvements. Exercise is one that I can handle on my own because I am well versed from my past. Nutrition not so much.

I am going to incorporate some supplements into my new diet. Mainly I am looking for advice on what bulk powder supplements I can buy (and maybe where via email) to incorporate into a shake or two every day.

I already have the following but do not have to use them:

    Optimal Nutrition Whey Protein
    Random Omega 3,6,9 pills
    Turmeric Pills
    Vitamin D3 2000iu
    Random Multi-Vitamin
    Acetyl-L-carnitine 500mg pills

Any input would be much appreciated!

PS. Often posters on the other forums don't relate to those of us that are not focused on training like machines. Thus they cannot understand where we are coming from or where we want to go.

I recommend the following, mostly geared toward those with an active lifestyle.

    Multi-Vitamin
Fish Oil (EPA/DHA for omega 3s)
    Anti-Oxidant Complex (vit. C/E)
"Energy" Complex (vit. B1/B2/B3/B5/B6/B7/B9/B12 for energy, stress, etc.)
Digestive Enzymes (amylase/protease/lipase/papain/pepsin/cellulase/bromelain for high protein/dairy diets)
Probiotic Formula (acidophilus/bifidus for digestive/immune system support)
    Melatonin (optional for sleep support)

From a nutrition standpoint, including meal-replacement shake supplements, I use the following, sometimes with any combination of the above (in powder form):

    Whey Protein
    Creatine (Monohydrate)
    Chia Seeds

May seem overboard, and don't necessarily take them everyday, but keep them on hand (stress, fatigue, illness, etc.).

There was a thread on these boards a couple of months ago about multi vitamins. A study was conducted on the effectiveness of most all multis on the market and the results were pretty suprising. Centrum was almost at the bottom of the list and Source Naturals was at the top, so beware of which brand you buy. Ill try to find that study later and post it.

    I'm taking:

    - (2) Fish oil capsules = 2400mg x2 daily
    - (2) Super Omega 3-6-9 complex = 2400mg x2 daily
    - (1) Multivitamin x1 daily
    - (2) Vitamin C = 1000mg x2 daily
    - (2) Glucosamine-Chondroitin capsules x1 daily

On days I lift I take one scoop of Jack3d. On cardio days I take 100mg of caffeine per workout.

Post workout shake is about 40mg of Whey protein. I usually take one scoop of whey right before bed.

I'm adding 1000mg of B12 (IM) EW starting next week.

Durak, have you had your vit D levels tested? I have to take 10 000 iu's a day to get anywhere near optimal which is between 70-90. I was taking 4000 iu for about 3 months and my levels came up to the high 30's from the twenties but that is nowhere close enough.

Most can take about 5000 iu's a day without even getting tested and do themselves a world of good.

But I read recently that it is best to include vit K2 when taking high doses of vit D so as to reduce arterial stiffness that may occur.

What sweetener does your protein powder contain? Some use junk sweeteners and defeat the purpose. Jay Robbs is excellent because it uses stevia so does not spike insulin and cause weight gain. Chocolate flavor tastes great.

Protein is insulinogenic regardless of the sweeter used.

And how do artificial sweeteners defeat the purpose of protein? One creates a pleasurable experience regarding consumption (lol), the other assists in necessary bodily functions...(*confused @ logic*)
