What's in a full panel?
Hey bros, thanks to all of you for all the info I've been reading. I'm gonna do this right this time under the supervision of a doc. Pardon my ignorance if it sounds redundant or like I haven't done my research. I assure you that I've spent countless hours being non-productive at work and at home due to me reading and trying to absorb ALL of the information I find throughout the forums and threads therein. I have a scheduled visit to my doc next Tues. I told the receptionist on the phone that the purpose of my visit was a routine checkup and to have bloodwork done. I asked her to include in her notes that I wanted my A1C (sugar level) checked cuz I'm a type 2 diabetic, I wanted my cholesterol levels checked, Free Test, Total Test, Estrogen levels all checked. My question for y'all is this....
Is there anything else that I should be requesting to have checked? I'm not real confident that my doc will automatically order everything I need unless I request it. So, what's included in a full panel blood exam?

they usually request certain things, however you can always ask him to add a few. The usual ones I have checked are: cbc, psa, testosterone free/total, estrodial

i've usually been given a lab request form .. most major clinics have one from the different lab companies.. the last one i had just had check boxes for the different labs you could request...
my doc the last time requested so much they took 16 vials of blood from me... i was a wee bit light headed after that.

pbdad, thanks for the link with the lab form. I'll take that exact form into the doc's office and they can do with it what they will after I request what I need done. Good stuff bro.
