If my doc doesn't want to do TRT can I send labs somewhere else for prescription?

I'm 30 and while I'm healthy and active I feel weaker in the gym than I used to. I'm also more moody than I used to be probably due to the stress of having two kids under the age of 3. I went in for a yearly physical and I had my doc do a testosterone screening along with the other blood work. When I mentioned low testosterone his response was, "Usually only in overweight or diabetic, and you're too young but I'll test for it anyway". That response doesn't have me to confident in him putting me on TRT even if it's lower than normal. If I get my labs back and they show to be low and he doesn't want to work with me is it possible for me to send my labs to a different doc or clinic or will I have to go to them and redo all the blood work again? Is there any type of anti-aging clinic online that would accept my labs?

Look in your area for a D.O. As opposed to an M.D.
D.O.'s are usually anti aging specialists. Take your blood work results to him.
Also there are MANY reputable online clinics that can help.. This forum doesn't allow to name specifics but a quick google search will put u in the right direction

If that doest work, I use a fairly affordable online clinic out of Florida. They will use your current BW too.

At least in the States, your test scores are part of your medical record, and they are your property. He can't legally withhold them from you. So you'd be free to try a different doc with the same test scores.

Guys, I'm in the same boat sort of.

I'm 42 year old male. I have been given TRT in the past from a local MD (homeopath) and did my second rounds of blood work. The labs came back and he said I no longer needed it.

The issue here is that I still need to be concerned about bone loss (long term use of predisone).

I'm in Phoenix and don't want to doctor shop but would like to find someone that can help me out at a reasonable cost. The kicker is that I paid for a full bottle of injections and still probably have 2-3 doses left at the doctors office. He is a great doc but I still need a small boost to get me over the hump of lethargy, and weight gain.

Well the test results came in and the nurse said my doctor said I have low test and slightly low thyroid. I go in tomorrow morning to discuss treatment options. If he puts me on TRT I'm thinking injections would be better than a gel or pill?

I had the same experience - was working with an Endo and my results came back with extremely low Total and Free Test along with Estrogen on the high side. Endo only wanted to issue patches or gels and nothing else.

With the advice from people here and on a couple other forums I was given the contact info of a really reputable AA Clinic in FL that I have been working with for 4 weeks now. Did everything online and over the phone - used all my existing blood work and was good good go!

Well my doc put me on androgel for 2 months, then wants to check labs again. I asked about injections and he said most people crash right before the next injection is due. He also put me on a pill for slight hypothyroidism.

LOL! Yeah, if they put you on one injection every two weeks or once a month! Most docs have no idea how to administer TRT protocol successfully. The half life of test cypionate is 6-8 days, so if you pin once a week you will have stable blood levels. Pin twice a week for even better results. Of course, that many injections mean you'd have to self administer and I'll bet that's another sticking point for your doc.

Yes I told him my wife was an RN Manager at the local hospital and she could/would do injections if we went that route and he said absolutely not because it was a controlled substance.

BTW, the only thing they did for Test was Total Test and my results were 342.69 and the reference range is 350-890. This is from Spectrum Laboratory Network.

Oh not the controlled substance line again ... Geez, I went through that with the idiot endo at Kaiser one time. If he's right, then why do members like myself and countless others have legal scripts sitting in our houses? Vicodin is also a controlled substance, ask him if you can take that home. Tell him he's a douche, or tell him to logon here at the forum and I'll tell him. Tired of these guys speaking out their ass!

Again, more stupidity from someone who doesn't know what they're talking about. Yeah, I always crash right before my next injection. Sounds like a good reason to gouge me doc with some AndroHell!

    Ignorance is bliss!!

My thyroid was also slightly low and he put me on 75mg Synthroid . Looks like I would do a lot better on Armour from what I've read. I think I'm going to ask for a referral to an endo.

I've read that most AA's won't accept insurance? Any truth to that?

Call around or look online locally for doctors who specialize on TRT if you want to use your insurance. I found a good specialist /medical group (not an anti-aging clinic) around my area through google and fortunately this doctor is in my network plan. As for your medical records, these will be transferred to your new doctor, however, keep in mind that he/she might still order more lab test.
