    Estrogens vs Estradiol

    Hi

I finally made my urologist test me for Sensitive Estrodiol , but he went ahead and also tested me for a regular Estrodiol.

Here is the reading from the chart.

    Estrogens, Total - 130 (High) - Range 40-115 pg/mL
    Estradiol - 10.3 (Normal) Range 7.6-42.6 pg/mL
    Testosterone , Serum - 1144 (Normal) - Range 348-1197 ng/dL
    No Free Test WTF
    Tsh - 4.470 Normal - Range 0.450-4.500 uIU/mL

Which estrogen should i be concerned about? By the way, i didn't go over this with him yet, i just pulled it up online.

    thanks!

Estradiol is what you want to see and you look fine if not a bit suppressed.

Your Total Testosterone serum level is high.

Your TSH is very high and you need to have your Thyroid tested for:

    FT4
    FT3
    RT3
    Antibodies

The elevated TSH suggests that your thyroid is underperforming ---> hypothyroidism.

Are you on a TRT protocol?

I am on 100mg test cyp every 5 days and .5 Adex every other day.

I had 2 blood works this month, from a Urologist and this new wellness doctor i went to see.

Urologist only tested TSH and that was on the 12/20/2012 and on that day it's high normal.

Going back a week to 12/12/2012.

I saw a wellness doctor who took a bunch of other tests but included the complete thyroid panel, here are the numbers from 12/12/2012

    TSH 1.97 , 0.40-4.50 mIU/L
    T4,FREE 1.2 0.8-1.8 ng/dL
    THYROID PANEL TBR
    T4,TOTAL 6.4 4.5-12.0 mcg/dL
    T3 UPTAKE 32 22-35 Percent
    T4,FREE,CALCULATED 2.0 1.4-3.8 Units
    T3,FREE 3.5 2.3-4.2 pg/mL

I didn't see the wellness doc again yet to go over my lab results , but all i see in the chart that my numbers are all in the normal range. But i could be wrong.

    thanks for the input

looks like you're using a little to much test. You could probably knock it back to .75 ever 5 or 7 days without a problem. I run mine at .75 every 7 days and am around 600+

It's another case of more is not better.

Free test is what is important. If total test is high and free test is in a good range, no reason to lower dosages.

The Thyroid labs here look fine; just goes to show how different labs can be sometimes and why we need to get evaluated every 6 months.

as gdevine points out, your estradiol # is a bit low. you may want to cut back on your arimidex a little. i believe the optimum range for estradiol is between 20-30.

Correct! But it is still based on how you feel. Some do better a little higher and some are heriditarily lower. For example I normally run at 16 and don't use AI's. All is well there.

Looks like I was looking at things backwards, your correct.
Hmmm I think I need some sleep. Glad I have a few days off coming up.

Fair point. Optimal range does, however, give one a target to shoot for initially. from there, absolutely, calibrate based on how you "feel".

OP indicates he is taking .5 mg Adex EOD, which is actually a pretty high dose. If it was me, i would scale back on the arimidex and monitor blood work in combination with how i feel.

This was not the sensitive test, I'm betting you are even lower than 10.3, I would back off the adex and go get the sensitive test, so you can be sure of where your at. Like one said on here it is basically how you feel that will determine where your levels should be, but you don't want to live with your e2 levels bottomed out for too long.

I am a true believer in the "how you feel" scenario but with E2 one must realize it can be insidious for some men when elevated or suppressed...no symptoms and feeling normal.

In other words, they won't feel any different but if E2 is elevated or suppressed for too long it can result in some serious medical conditions for men...including cancer.

Just a word to the wise...

I feel the same with my test in 1100s and e2 at 130 as test in 1100s and e2 at 130, go figure.

I understood your point even with the typo..it happens with some men, they get no symptoms when highly elevated or very suppressed E2 serum levels.
