hemoglobin too high

went to doc yesterday with fever and shore throat,aching joints and no energy at all..they did blood test and white count elivated and hemoglobin was at 19! doc told me no more test shots and that i was going to have to give 1-pint of blood a week till hemoglobin is down to normal levels and so i asked about getting hcg to jump start my system back and he said he would send me to a specialist for that but said if i dont give up the blood and stop test i was putting my life at risk..anyone else had this happen? (also forgot to mention im 45yrs old and been on test cyp sinse oct,was doing 200 a week and dropped back to 100 aweek about 3-months ago)

Your doctor is reacting like you have severe hemochromotosis, which isn't the case. 19 is a little over the top, and probably should come down, but it's not like you're bleeding out your arse with a score of 30+. As stated above, a 6 week donor cycle will do the trick. LOL, the first thing the doc has you do is go cold turkey on your "T". Then he has to shuffle you off to someone else to see if you can HCG to keep you from crashing. Sounds about par for the course anymore.

didnt want to mention it but yes i was bleeding out my arse,i passed blood and now have a colonosopy on sept 7,he checked and couldnt find cause of blood,i did not have any signs of hemroids...

Crazy. Is it possible someone could get all of these problems from Testogel? Every time I try Testogel I get sick, and this last time I was bleeding on the toilet paper as well. When i got an unrelated blood test the nurse commented that my blood was overwhelmingly full of hemoglobin. Visually she could see it in the test tube. And I wasnt even getting testosterone shots...

Depends on the scale but 19 is very high.
To the op you may have Polycythemia.
You can keep it in check with therapeutic Phelebotomies.
They may need to occur untill the bone marrow ignores the signal to create RBC.

Are you foggy, moody , irritable , a little less sharp at times of the day.

You would think the RBC woluld increase O2 to the brain but the sides "feel" exactly the opposite.

Give blood , avoid the colonoscopy (ur 45 if you haven't had one then do so).
500cc once a week until you are around 12.

My endo is sending me to see a Hematologist too. My hemoglobin levels have been near the top of the reference range since even before TRT began, but I think he is just being cautious. Recent count was 18.2 with 17.5 being the high range number. I was about 17.2 before TRT and have stayed around that level since. I figure the worst that can happen for now is that I begin giving blood again to the Red Cross. They are always after my blood type anyway.

Oh and no sweat on the colonoscopy. Pretty easy procedure and much better than fighting/dieing from colon cancer.

Went to dr today and hemoglobin 19.0! Age 61. Had boosted test to 200 per week but this was too much-- a shock to the system. Told to stop test temp but did not hear anything about giving a pint of blood. Maybe due to jump after leveling at 15.8 last August? Regardless, the dr point was made and will back off test for month with a blood redraw in 60 days. Not looking forward to possible depression as test had really helped. My plan is to increase contact with females who are positive. Otherwise it will be a bumpy ride.
