TRT- 4 Months in and life is good again

Well, its been 4 months that I have been lurking in the shadows in this forum and it's now time to say Hi and Thank You!
Over the past 5 or 6 years I have been dealing with numerous issues that I just thought were normal. I was a very active person who played numerous sports growing up and into my late 30's. Around 40 I started to have issues with recovery after sports. It would take me 3 days to recover from a hockey game. My desire to do anything active diminished greatly as the years passed by. I had constant hip/groin/lower back pain over the last 3 years, my libido was not great, my mood was generally bad, no memory or attention span..... Well, I went for my annual check up in early Sept and my Dr mentioned checking my T levels. I thought why not. Anyway sure as anything my free T was at a level of a 85 yr old man. My doc order a full blood screening and immediately started me on IM injections of 75mg week. I noticed an positive effect after 3 days but started to drop off quickly on day 5-7.
This is when I discovered this awesome web-site. The knowledge I gained over the week provided me with great info when I went back to see my Dr. I asked her about bumping my injections to 100mg, given how low I was it couldn't hurt and she agreed. My blood work came back good except for the free T so she didn't add any other RX to my treatment. I was sent to a specialist and he said that my Dr was on the right track. I have had blood tests on a monthly basis and my levels have been steadily moving up and I'm now sitting in the mid level for free T. It has been a long process to get my levels back to a normal range at 100mg week but in the end I but I didn't have any other side effects that I read about with the higher doses.
What can I say. My energy levels have been better than I ever remember and my workouts have been great. My hip/back pain stopped after week 2 which made me think that my muscles in my back and hips had slowly been wasting away. I actually get a full pump at the gym and my wife has noticed my muscles look fuller, she also enjoys the increased libido. Makes me think I have been deficient of T my entire life. When I joined the military 23 yrs ago I was 5'7" and 135lbs. I have always been a small but active person but the past 4 yrs I have been slowly gaining weight in the wrong areas and was @ 153lbs when I started TRT. After 4 months I have lost the doughy area around my gut and now sit @ lean 163lbs.
Anyway, I just wanted to pass on my sincere thanks to all the helpful members in this forum who have helped many others and allowed me to lurk and educate myself.
I look forward to helping others out there now as I'm sure they are also lurking in there quest for answers.

    jp, flats, slimmer

I have had the pleasure of reading numerous posts from all of you and as well as others regarding HRT. Its was your sound advise and support to others provided me with the much need info in my battle to understand what was happening to me and what questions to ask the Dr's. The info I took also helped to make my wife more understanding of what I was going through. Anyway, I thought I would intro myself to others on the board before I started to chime on other posts.

Welcome fellow Canuck, and nice post! I too went through something very similar to what you've stated, and TRT has been great for me - 16 months and still going strong. Getting the right dose dialed-in is so important and am glad to hear you're experiencing so many positive things. Keep us posted as to your progress and hope to see you around here sharing more info!
