slimmer me will be real schooled here but imo i would believe that even for men there are always going to be people with beliefs and misconceptions that hormones cause cancer, heart attack, your head to explode, etc...men have to have cancer ruled out and general health checked before starting hormone therapy as THEN if you HAD cancer and THEN added hormones you would be putting fuel on the fire

    just my .02

The real issue with femal HRT is that the common estrogen source is from a female horse! Go for the bio-identical alternatives and don't go with estrogen compounds from animals. All of the studies that link cancer with estrogen replacement are based on the synthetic hormones, mostly from animals and predominately from horses. Premarin, the most common estrogen replacement form, is from horses.

Ok let me give a little background.. I work as a radiation therapist and deal with cancer patients .. everything i'm about to say is anecdotal from my own experience..

Breast cancer is usually diagnosed in women who are post menapausal and in their 60's or older...

When you see anyone that has breast cancer prior to those bench marks there are a few possible causitive factors.

    1. BRCA gene.. this is the gene that predisposes women to Breast cancer and Ovarian cancer
    2. Hormone therapies at a younger age pre-menapausal.. primarily seen in women who have done fertility treatments.

From my own experience, with a very few noteable exceptions almost every woman that I treated that was pre-menapausal had done some sort of hormonal/fertilty treatment.

Now from what I've seen and read in journals is that the actual increase of risk is very slight if the person has no other factors. However, it appears that if the person does have any risk factors the addition of external hormones acts as a synergy (the increase is much greater than just the risk of the individual factors.)

    Hope this helps

HRT "does not create" but "can exacerbate if problems are already exist" from what I understand. This is why getting all the necessary test are imperative before starting any bhrt/hrt program.

The problems we all hear about is believed to have come from all the synthetic hormones which were around a few years ago.

    I would have her read:
    Dr. Uzzi Reiss "Natural Superwoman"
    S. Somers "Breakthrough"
and anything by Dr. Daved Rosensweet
    and Thierry Hertoghe

And if she really wants to pursue this? Get her baseline BW done first while researching.

Honestly? IMO? I think the jury is still out on all of this. I was on BHRT for 9 months and felt the BEST I had ever felt in my life. Great sense of well being. But I think I over did it as my doc prescribed me too much. So I went cold turkey. I do plan to start back up at some point.

There is the fear. I understand this. But I have asked many docs your question and they all say HRT will not create but exacerbate. That is what they have told me.

For real specific help here? I would get some help from the female member PPC. She might be able to help clarify more. Also she might come up with some magic trick suggestions.

Might also be a good idea to get your wife to go ahead and join so she can get her post count up then PM PCC and get advice personally. That is what I would do especially since from what I understand a lot of this is libido related and she might have a simple solution.

For ex: I have a girlfriend who is using just a little bit of test and WOW! what a difference a day makes.

If you consider Bayes Law this is a very minimal factor. Most pre-menapausal women who have never had breast cancer have also have some sort of hormonal/fertitly treatment. In fact, if you consider the fertitlty treatment as a health indicator instead of a cause factor, then you get closer to the truth. People with poorer overall health will be more likely to have cancer, and having fertility problems is a good indicator of overall health.

Again, all those journal studies were based on estrogen from horses! Bio-identical estrogen has not had the same studies done, mostly because drug companies can't make money off what they can't patent; however, you have to remember that all those bad results were from taking horse estrogen!

Most people consider TRT to be high risk for liver disease. And there are tons of studies to prove this. The problem is those studies are based on oral supplementation. None of them are based on the gel supplementation which is 100% bio-identical testosterone . It is the same issue. The problem is not the hormone which is naturally found in your body, it is the hormone that is NOT found in your body.

this all started because of the typical doctor dosing protocol. give them plenty. so when the studies came out showing it may cause cancer it is because they were giving the ladies WAAAAAAY too much estrogen and not monitoring them afterwards.
