No libido after 3 years of Finasteride
Hi guys, im new to this place even though ive been lurking for a while. I have an unusual problem (?), and im not sure where to put this thread so if this is wrong just tell me and ill correct it.
My problem is, 1 year and 6 months ago i quit a 3 year consumtion of Finasteride 1.25 mg/daily. I was trying to combat hairloss, i tink it worked, was fine, feeling good, but emotionally it tore me down, knowing im suppressing DHT alot. I decided to quit, trying to ease it out of my body with halved doses for a while. A few months after i quit i began to feel numb between my legs, libido was slowly reduced over time. It didnt worry me too much since i know my endosystem need to correct it self, but it kinda never did.
So here i am today, very low sexual desire, havent had my bloodtest done yet, but its going to happen real soon, got an appointment. Last test i did when i was on Finasteride showed normal values even though my testosterone was very high, on the very upper scale, which is expected since Finasteride inhibits the transformation to DHT and therefor elevates T levels.
My question to you guys is.. what do you think is causing my low libido. Could it be that my natural produktion of T never caught up? Thats my guess anyway, maybe my LH is low. I want to be prepared for the doctor, so i can have a good conversation with him.
I also work out at the gym as many of you, and what contradicts the low T theory is that i feel stronger than ever.. but i feel i have a hard time losing BF, and gaining muscle.. but im not sure about this one.
So, if anyone have any thoughts about this feel very free to express them.
Edit: i will add that i waited this long because i thought it would eventually sort it self, naturally.. and really i had no knowledge about treatments to counter this. I see you guys on steroids are doing what you call PCT to counter some of the effects the "gear" you are using, and im curious if such a thing could work for me, ofcourse i know that it requires blood tests to really know whats going on here. But i still feel you guys with alot of knowledge could give me hints of whats happening in my body.
Thank youLast edited by 86kg; 06-29-2011 at 10:58 AM.

hmmm, i have no clue what Finasteride is, but if you feel fine strength wise but low libido it could be E2! are you checking for E2? if not ask your doctor. bump for other!

Ill make sure to check for E2, yes thank you.
Well finasteride was/is originally a "cure" if youve got enlarged prostate, it inhibits the alpha-reductase type 2 enzyme so that the transformation from T->DHT is lowered, alot. This makes your prostate shrink. DHT is also antagonist to hairfollicles, causing your immunesystem to turn against it.. thus hairloss.

you need to go to musclechatroom.com asap, dr crisler has done extensive research on finesteride and has tons of articles on it, but i gotta brace you though, unfortunately some people never come back to normal after stopping finesteride, go to that site asap and look for the big sticky on it
