    Help with lab results

    Hi Guys -

New to this forum and hoping you can help me out.

I have been having symptoms of low t for a couple months now and finally went to the doctor last week. He was reluctant to order a lab for testosterone given my age (34).

He did order one though and I finally got my results back.

    The lab results say:

    T4, free: 1.3 ng/dl
    Testosterone, total, LC/MS/MS: 267 ng/dl
    Testosterone, free 29.9 L

It looks very low given some of the research I have been doing. I am going back to the doctor later this week.

Given those numbers would a doctor likely treat me with some form of TRT?

    Thanks for your help!

    Eric

You did not post ranges, but those numbers are low regardless of scale. You should be a candidate for TRT but if those numbers fall in range some doctors will not authorize treatment. If he doesn't take your test results then go elsewhere.

Post ALL your labs complete with ranges and tell us more about yourself besides age. Weight, height, BF, diet, exercise, injuries, disease...

Those were all the items shown in my lab results sans the ranges which I don't have with me here at work this morning. (I will post those later)

    My profile is:
    6' 00" - 175 lbs

I've never had my BF measured but I would have to estimate somewhere in the 12% - 16%

I do exercise regularly. I was weight training hard up until December 2010 and then very seldom since then. I do play ice hockey or lacrosse at least once per week and I also do p90x workouts once or twice per week. I also run 3+ miles a couple times per week. I did finally start weight training again last week too. I'll stick with 3 workouts per week based on basic compound lifts (squat, dead, bench, pull ups) at moderate set / rep ranges.

Diet isn't dialed in nor logged but I tend to try and follow healthier guidelines (avoiding fried fast food, trying to keep meals around 600 cals or less, higher protein content, moderate carbs, lower fat). Some regular items I consume are: Natural PB, Wheat bread, tuna, ground turkey, pasturized egg whites, low to moderate vegetables / fruits.

Injuries: I broke my right ankle playing football a couple of years ago. It required 2 surgeries to fix it.

No diseases that I am aware of.

No steroid cycles in your past? Not sure why I ask...but a lot of younger guys come in here asking for help after having done some cycles, then not able to reboot their natural production. Your levels look low to me, but ranges will be nice to see.

Good to see another P90X'r. Still kicking my butt after many many weeks. Considering pre-ordering P90X2 to have more variety.

No injected steroid cycles in my history. I did run a 4 week cycle of a pro-hormone product in April 2010. I recovered fine from that and just started having the symptoms of low t in July or August of 2011.

applied nutriceuticals - The one (17a-methyl-etioallocholan-17b-ol-3-hydroxyimine)

I absolutely agree that Pro-hormones products are just as bad, if not worse than AAS. I wasn't making light of them. Simply stating that these low T symptoms are almost 1.5 years after PCT from that product.

yea i wouldn't be surprised thats what did it! your TT and FT are almost shut down, i don't think your natural levels can be rebounded with other hormone treatments like clomid, hCG, etc.. in my opinion the doc should put you on TRT.

Appointment with a primary care doc is tomorrow. I have also found an endocrine group in the event the primary care won't give proper treatment.

Doctor read my results on Friday and immediately prescribed replacement therapy. He prescribed Androgel 1.62 at 2 pumps daily.

I began it yesterday and I seem to already feel a little better. Could just be placebo effect though . . .

I go back to the docs office in 2 weeks to have levels checked again.

The doctor didn't discuss injections or any other alternative treatments.
