    Androgel and E2

I am new here, and I have been on androgel 10g for two months. I will be getting my blood tested this weekend...I approached my doctor and asked him if he could add the estrogen test to my script, and was told no. I have since found out that the urologist also does not test for E2.

Does anyone have any valid research that I could show him that may change his mind. I feel that my levels are high, slight swelling of the chest etc.

My PCP sort of refused this test when I asked him as well. He said that (my) insurance would not pay for an estrogen test on a guy, but he'd be willing to order the test if I was willing to pay out of pocket. You can get this test on your own if you are willing to pay. I don't know how much it would cost, but it can be done. Oh, yeah, I'm an Androgel guy too...8-10gms./day. No symptoms of high E2, but I dose a small amount of arimidex twice a week.

WTF?.....That pisses me off that a doctor would deny you a specific blood test that you requested!

I printed off Dr. Crisler's HRT Protocol (link below) thinking my PCP would get something from it, but I think his ego got in his way of actually learning something from a patient. Its definitely worth reading though...

    Good luck!

Probably an indicator you're going to have to find a new doc.

Push comes to shove, you can pay for this out-of-pocket and go through an online testing site such as privatemdlabs.com or ineedlabs.com. This assumes you are in the USA. The test is about $45.
