AST/ALT high
I just got my lab work done, the female hormone panel from LabCorp. I ran the test to get an idea of my E2 and Test levels, find out my AST/ALT are elevated. Are the ranges the same for a male and female?
AST: 64 0-40 range
ALT: 60 0-55 range
How can I lower the levels? Will Arimidex elevate them? I am on .25 every 3 days. How high is too high?
Thanks

First, it's important to understand that ALT and AST levels do not reflect the function of the liver, even though they commonly are referred to as liver function tests. They only are used to detect inflammation due to injury or damage to the liver from any source.
Even in conditions when AST and ALT are very elevated, the liver may function properly
A normal otherwise healthy person can present mild to moderate elevated levels of AST/ALT levels for no reason. They can be elevated from simple things like taking acetaminophen (or a long list of other drugs) or even drinking alcohol.
More serious issues point to things like fatty liver do to chronic alcohol consumption. Hepatitis A/B can cause elevated levels as well
You're slightly elevated and I wouldn't be concerned to be honest with you. Just keep an eye on it for your next BW.

mine always get elevated when i take OTC pain killers especially NSAIDs, and yes Adex may have some influence as well. like GD said i wouldn't worry but keep an eye on it. i treat mine with milk-thistle and sometimes with Glutathione injections i get from my clinic. you can get milk-thistle from any health store, usually you cycle it 2 weeks at a time.
BTW, cranberry juice helps also for both your liver and kidneys.

Didn't we also sort of conclude that heavy weightlifting type exercise negatively impacts AST/ALT levels? My docs always seem to get "hinky" over elevated AST/ALT levels. One even seemed to be sure of fatty liver and ordered an ultrasound, but no joy...no problem found. I figure it must be my exercise, weekend wine drinking and NSAID use (arthritis).

i had a bottle of milk thistle in my hand yesterday, I was unsure how much to take and for how long. If I were to take 1000mg a day for two weeks off and wait for next round of tests?
Thanks

you are absolutely correct regarding lifting! did you know even smelling toxic fumes like gasoline, pesticide, etc... can elevate your levels? thats why eating healthy is the ticket to keeping your liver health. have any of you seen Supper Size Me movie? its worth watching!
