    Optimal Levels

Hello all. first time poster here. I need a few questions answered on optimal trt levels. i keep reading about being on the high side of normal, but at what point after an injection would that be? my total level is 742 (in range ) and free level is 166 (out of range )on the 7th day of my weekly injection of 150 mg of test cyp. does that mean my that they are both doubled at their peak taking my total to almost 1500? if so, how long would they remain that high and is it safe? thanks for your help.

optimal level is based on how an individual feels, but of course most o us prefer upper normal. your total T is not as critical as your free, but your free is way out of range, for health reasons you want to keep that within range or slightly above. i believe high levels of anything is not good in the long run. and yes testosterone peaks at about 48-72 hours so it would have been higher if you drew your blood sooner, but i don't think by much! save money and avoid stress on your body/organs and lower your dose to 120mgs per week, better yet split that into twice a week to avoid these kinds of spikes. what about AI? what is your complete protocol? welcome here BTW.

agree with bass that patients symptoms or lack thereof are as important as the numbers

    more isnt always better

the twice a week shot is only a preferred method by some

from what i've seen in my 6 years on this site is free test is usually going to be slightly out of range high and total T high but in range for "optimal" and of course e2 needs to be in range and some will argue that theres a target range for that level as well...

optimal in turn always comes down to the individual

Agree with both the above guys. No, your number is not necessarily doubled. It all depends on how your body metabolizes things. We are all different. Post up full BW with ranges if possible so we can take a better look. Your complete protocol as well....

you can get your free T level higher by making sure your e2 and shbg are in check. i don't think there is a danger in high normal, but higher than normal levels for a long time may cause serious problems like prostate enlargement or cancer, liver and kidney failure, it may also effect your cardiovascular system and could have a heart attack or a stroke due to unstable levels in your RBC, hemoglobin and Hematocrit, high blood pressure, lipid, etc... always think of the word "normal" anything below and above is considered abnormal. if bodybuilders can cycle all year around and for as long as they live they'll do it, but thats why they cycle and do PCT to help their bodies recover form the damage caused by excessive use of steroids .

I'm curious what standard of testing is being used on your Free Testosterone panel? It can't be ng/ml, or that would put you over 20% ... Not possible when factoring SHBG and albumin.

Presume what you're trying to elaborate is that your labs were taken at the 7th day of your last injection. Doubt you were at 1500 on day 2 or 3, which is when it peaks.

Hope we hear back from you.

thanks for all the replys. peak levels are exactly what i am trying to find out and if they are only out of range for a day or 2 then what would that hurt? RBC 5.18 (4.2-5.8) cholesterol 238 hdl 54, ldl 159 a little high, but working on it. Estradiol 20. total t 742. free is 169 (35-155) i take .5 arimidex day after shot (thursday night) and .5 on monday morning. i have been on trt for approx 6 months and i feel like a champ. when the doc dropped me from 200mg to 150mg, it took a while for me to feel good again and i would prefer to stay right where i am. i really wanted to know if running slightly high on free will have a negative impact?

I believe there will be no problem if once in a while you run above normal. your levels look fine to me especially if your feel great. and thats whats important!
