Pregnancy on TRT
So I'm on 125mg test C per week given at a clinic and I've been on TRT for well over a year now.
My girlfriend and I are talking about getting pregnant and so I was wondering what suggestions you guys have for me to bring up in regards to upping the sperm count when I go to the clinic next week.
Thanks

trying to conceive within the next year is actually one of the few contraindications of starting testosterone therapy .
fortunately, it's not impossible, but it might hurt your odds. I'm not sure entirely what all your options are but the most common ones would probably be stopping the TRT and then, for more avant garde docs, they might add HCG . HCG is a fertility drug after all.

Yeah Marcus was telling me of somebody who used HCG and clomid and had good success. When I started TRT, kids weren't a thought.

I think if you stop TRT and with some hcg and clomid(maybe toremifene) and a lil' bit of luck you'll be able to perform the task. Then get back on TRT. I am on TRT too without hcg, i also dont have kids in future plans any time too soon. When(and if) the time will come, i'll try the same combo. If it was meant to be, it'll be, if not, then it was probably never meant to be.

I'm going to ask the nurse at the clinic about hcg and clomid.
Did anybody have any success with this?

lots of people have had success with that...

HCG is going to mimic LH and signal the testes to produce testosterone . Although, it's not unheard of to see activity with spermatogenesis while taking HCG (I'm proof), but it's usually not an abundant amount. The hormone mostly responsible for the generation of sperm is FSH, which is nowhere to be found with HCG. If you want a therapy that will contain both the LH & FSH analogue, then look into HMG.
I would personally explore the HMG route if you're planning on staying on HRT. Clomid is a possibility, but I guess it depends on how willing your HPTA will be to start GnRH production once again. It might work, it might not work, and/or could cause a minimal amount of FSH.

LOL, I heard he needs a hand but that's not my field, we will need to call DSM and Shol va to help him out.
SHHhhhh!!!! Never admit that sort of stuff.... Yeah most of us grow out or mature past all the playing and eventually want a little more out of life. I understand fully.

I'll still tell others not to do what I have done. Without playing the field and looking out for #1, I never would've known what I wanted in a relationship.
But right now, my priority in life is trying to start a family. And really, I was put on TRT because of a tumor on my pituitary that killed my test. I was at like 23ng/dl. My endo wanted me on the gel, but I ended up going to one of those age clinics where they administer me a shot every week.Last edited by Honkey_Kong; 04-08-2012 at 07:24 PM.

Yes I understand and there is not substitution for personal experience it's just easy to loose yourself in all the fun and forget what your original goals were. In other words, sex is fun. lol
Yeah it sucks all the hoops we have to jump through to find a doctor who knows anything and is willing to help us. All they want to do for the most part is take basic BS test to justify giving you blood pressure medication, ED meds (V), cholesterol meds (#1 money maker in US), and other things to mask the cause of a problem and not fix it. I had to also go through a longevity clinic for about a year and have many many blood test and appointments to help them make money before taking all my records to an endo and continuing treatment covered by my insurance.
It's unfortunate that we have to know as much or more about HRT/TRT than the doctors and we have to educate them and force them to help us. I realize that they are also having to fight with the insurance companies all the time and they have so much BS paperwork and processes it leave little time to research new criteria or to stay current on everything.

It's really just pathetic that we have to be experts on the medical issues we need the doctor to help about. If we have to do this much research just to spoon feed the docs in to giving us the TRT, what's the point in even making these drugs RX only and making us see a doctor? But then again, in any other field of medicine, now we have internet. It becomes our duty to double check the physician course of action.
I'm almost willing to bet when I mention the HMG at the clinic, they're going to look at me as if I'm speaking ancient Greek.

That's the beauty of it, as it would be just like HCG , but it will ADD the FSH analogue, and that's the ticket for spermatogenesis. The testes respond on the feedback signal that they get from the brain (HPTA), but that's obviously suppressed while on TRT, and/or it was probably somewhat suppressed at an earlier period, which is why a patient is prescribed TRT. HMG will just "mimic" the LH & FSH analogue. If the testes are healthy, they don't care how the work orders are delivered, if they sense one or both of these hormones, they will react 'naturally'.
Check it out, that would be my first choice if given the opportunity. You can always stack it with some H202 peroxide if all else fails ...

I'm a simple bastard I know but if you wanna have kids why don't you go have sex with her first and just see if she gets pregnant, if that doesn't work then worry about getting off TRT. Happy humping bro!

That part I wouldn't know for sure, as I've never been in a position for fertility treatment. I would suspect it would be at least a few months just to get the testicles producing like they should be, but I would have your doctor consult you on that to know for sure.

x2. Try this route before even worrying about it. I personally know 2 men at my gym that have accomplished it while on TRT/HCG .

Because you're thirsty and could go for a couple jugs? I mean one jug er bottle?
The whole thing with why I'm interested in seeing a doc is because neither of us used any form of contraception for quite a while and although we weren't "trying" to have kids, no accidents popped out either.Last edited by Honkey_Kong; 04-10-2012 at 06:51 PM.
