    Elevated E2, gain weight?

    Quick question;

Can elevated estrogen count cause a little fat gain around mid section? Been suffering from low T a while now and my Dr. is reluctant to do much about it...

Since I was given a 200mg shot of C back in Jan., I've suffered from Test level in the low 100 for about 2 months. It has seemed that I gained some weight around my love handle area. I changed nothing in my diet, ate the same things...
I gained about 8 lbs from week after shot to beginning of Feb. Since then I've gained no weight, but it seems I've lost muscle tone on my chest and mid section.

Test results from last week shot T level at 230 and estrogen at 50 on scale of <60.

    Thoughts?

high e2 will make you gain weight, but at that level i don't think so, most likely you're gaining weight due to your low T. you got only one shot of 200 mgs!! what was that about? testosterone shot is not a booster, so not sure what your doc was thinking, i am guessing he has no clue how to treat your low T. do you have a complete blood work, if so post all of it with ranges.

I'm with bass, as this just leaves us asking questions. Please enlighten us with some background on the shot in January, and what the objective was.

Sounds like there's some water retention involved here too, which could be part of the problem, and is associated with elevated E2. Was your E2 lab a sensitive assay?

Better yet, find a Physician who understands and practices good TRT medicine and get yourself well again.

You've got clinically low Testosterone (and God knows what else) and elevated E2...you need help.

Background was my test was 300 back on Jan 3. (I'm 36) So Dr. wacked me with 200mg of Cyp. and told me to wait a month and get another. First week an a half I felt fine, but it went down hill, and quick I might add. Asking him to give me another one about week three he refused, stating it's a month long shot, which after studying, it's a weeks or week 1/2 worth. Once a week is better....

Anyway, the circus of Dr. began between Endo, Uro and so on.

Now that is almost may, all levels have returns to 'my' normal. Test is 239, LH is fine along with TSH, T3, T4, rT3, rt4 and prol.
Only concern to me, not Dr. was my e3 being close to the high end on a scale of <60.

I can't find a TRT doctor that is covered by insurance, and I know taking test shots is like a guys contraceptive, and my wife and I are working on kids in about a year.
Back in 2007 I weighted in around 178, and after suffering a broken ankle, I got off my fat a$$ and starting working out and doing interval training. I dropped weight and got a little muscle and kept that 152 - 158 weight until Jan. 3... Expressing concerns about my libido, tiredness and low energy, the Dr. did BW. After it came back, he gave me that shot. Since then I've been at 165 - 168, but CAN NOT cut any of this fat off. It just will not do away.
Ya ya, 150's / 160's is a small guy and most would say ‘bulk’, but at 5' 7", I feel it’s a good weight for being muscular and not looking like a tree stump!

Do not have BW results with me, but can update this weekend.

My wife knowing how tired I've been and struggling and was asking if there is a way we can do test shots a week but when the time comes, have kids without being hindered from the shots.

You can be on a TRT protocol and still have kids so don't worry about that so much. With the right protocol you will be much healthier as well.

You don't have the right Doctor...if we've seen it here once we've seen it 1,000 times!

Read the sticky on how to find a TRT Doctor it will help you. There are Physicians who will take insurance and know how to practice TRT medicine correctly.

Only you can make this happen...and you know that.

I'm pretty sure I was high E2 even before I began TRT but can't prove. Just 100 mg a week threw it above 70.

Always had love handles and moobs.

Pre TRT I was 180ish with 21% bf. 18 months post TRT went to 200 mg weekly w .5 AI EOD. Keeps my E2 at 19 and TT around 1000 Now weigh 215 and 11% bf. Been on AI for 15 months.

Long story short E2 has to be the culprit.

High bf when starting trt makes things more difficult. The bf will already be producing e, then add in more fuel with the t and you get more e.

Yes fat deposits around mid section and chest area are very common.

Water weight is also a possibility for guys with an elevated e2.

No worries though, find a range that your body responds well with, throw in some hard work and a decent diet and you can see amazing results.

    Have any before/afters?

215 11% bf is beastly if you are 6' or under.
