Shelf life of testosterone gel ...expired april , still ok?

I have quite a bit of compounded 10% testosterone gel left. Its water based im assuming or might have some ethanol in it (says phenova on the label)

It was made in Oct 2011

It says on label to discard after april 2012.

I know the oily solution for injections is quite stable over a long time, but does anyone know about the gels? Is there a 'safety' zone or do these compounds really degrade that quickly if not in oil?

The gel has always been stored at room temp in shade.

    Thanks for any insight/help!

When anything expires, it is not instantly 0% good. When it reaches its limit, it starts to go from 100% to 0 % over a long period of time. Also, with meds, the expiration is well in advance of when it will start to degrade at all. So yeah, continue to use it. If you should feel it isn't as good, just add a little bit extra gel when you apply.
