    Hair Loss Prevention

I'm not currently losing hair, but I do think my hair is thinner than it was ten years ago (I'm currently 36 years old). My mom has thinner hair, although not balding thin. I'd like to find a way to work on hair loss prevention if possible before I begin to start losing hair - does anyone have any suggestions? I take 25 mg of zinc picolinate a day (which I understand can help with multiple male issues ranging from free testosterone to hair loss prevention). If anyone has any easy suggestions to help prevent potential hair loss, I'm all ears!

Curious if you know what your DHT level is? Test turns to DHT everywhere in the body except skeletal muscle via the 5 alpha-reductase enzyme. The scalp contains a lot of this enzyme, hence if your prone to MPB then be prepared. How's hair-lines on your fathers side?

Thanks kelkel - I'm not sure what my DHT is or what MPB is exactly. Does high DHT cause hair loss?

My dad's side of the family has decent hairlines - my paternal grandfather had quite a bit of hair into old age. My dad's recedes a bit but is holding steady in his mid sixties.

MPB is male pattern baldness. High DHT can exacerbate the problem if prone. My DHT was through the roof when I started on Gels as they are known to drive it up. Didn't lose a hair that I know of though. Switched to injections and it came down to a level I was happy with. There really is no "good or bad" level though, per Crisler. It's all how you feel.
